Summary of STORM NAVIGATION: RISE ABOVE IT!

The inscription or subtitle, ‘Rise Above It,’ is birthed out of my personal conviction that
storm-revelations are also storm-elevations. Therefore, the purpose of some storms is
to awaken and manifest the eagle attribute in us. This will cause us to put on the
attitude of an eagle, which uses the wind of its storm to rise and soar above it. The
author explains further on how we can have a positive attitude in order to rise to a
higher altitude in the midst of our stormy-circumstances. We need to raise an eagle
generation that rises above the weights of life’s disappointments and discouragements
which keep on pulling us down and causing us to sink in pools of depression and
despair.

Life is full of challenges and it was never designed to be a smooth sail. I quote, “Life
does not become easy, we grow wiser in handling life’s situations. Life does not get
easier, we get better at dealing with its challenges.” Sudden (Mambo) Dambuza
explains how some storms come to redirect us into the right course and how some
come to stop us from heading in the right direction. This book will enlighten the reader
on how to identify storms and analyse the purpose of every storm he walks into.
Different storms require different navigation approaches. This book ultimately serves
to help people to navigate through their different circumstantial storms of life. Most
storms cannot be avoided, thus, we need to master how to walk through them and get
the best out of them. So, how challenges handle you will depend on how you handle
them. What you go through may either better you or butcher you, depending on how
you handle it. This will also depend on the attitude you put on a daily basis. Your
attitude will determine your altitude! To stay afloat and above your circumstantial
challenges, you have to put on a positive attitude. I quote, “Challenges approached
with a positive attitude can propel one to a higher altitude. So, it’s up to you to
soar above your storm or wait for the storm to clear. However, when the storm
clears, there wouldn’t be enough wind to propel you to greater heights which
you could have reached by using the wind of your storm to gain altitude.”

People are going through a lot and this book helps the reader to understand that,
“Storms are too personal. Not everyone around you knows what you are going
through. You may try to tell them your struggles but they may never connect
with the pain of the struggle you are going through.” So there is need to gather
yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord. There is need to master yourself, in the
entirety of your being so as to know how to handle the challenges you may go through.
I quote, “Most stormy-experiences are too personal for you to drag anyone into
them. No matter how much help you get, you will not fix the storm, because the
purpose of such a storm is to fix you. People who never went what you went
through have a shallow revelation of what you went through.”
Due to my personal revelatory experiences, I have come to the place of understanding
that inasmuch as we go through challenges, some challenges tend to go through us.
And sometimes as we go through challenges, we grow through them. So this helps to
answer the question readers may ask that, “are all challenges bad?” I quote, “There
are certainly changes in us more than around us, when we allow God to
purposely walk us through our stormy-phases. Therefore, we must not merely
focus on what the storm did to us, but what God did in us, through the storm.
Let us not only be on the outlook for what God is doing to the storm but what
He is moulding and achieving in us through the storm.

We reluctantly use the phrase ‘going through challenges,’ and yet it’s a
meaningful phrase in determining whether we become victors or victims of
circumstances. This phrase means, the challenge or circumstance cannot be
avoided but it will not stop me from going to where I am supposed to go.”

Two of my favourite chapters in STORM NAVIGATION are chapter six and seven
titled, YOUR SHIFT IS IN THE SHAKING and STAY IN YOUR STORM. In a natural
storm, the ship or boat is tossed to and fro by the windstorm and hence the cargo on
board tend to be shifted in the shaking. The same applies with us when we go through
the storms of life. Sometimes in the shaking and shifting, we tend to see certain things
fall apart and we get discouraged. However, inasmuch as some things seem to fall
apart, there are actually falling into place. I quote, “Your shift is in the shaking! The
shifting signifies that the ship no longer has control of what happens to it. Some
things will just span out of control so as to navigate you to where God intends
you to be. Some things will not just work out as you intended and yet God is
working out what is meant to work for you.”

We oftentimes panic, we oftentimes give up and even give in, due to the circumstances
we may face in life. I mean, it’s in our humanness. We quickly want out! We want it to
be over soon! We want the problems we might be encountering to immediately
disappear! However, sometimes you have to STAY IN YOUR STORM! This sounds
hilarious right, but here is why, as I quote: “Stay in certain storms as long as it is
required of you, so that you master how to navigate through them, in the event
that the same storms occur again. You have dodged the challenge and yet the
experience of the challenge was going to be a lesson for you. You have ran away
from the situation and yet you have also ran away from the experience of the
situation, which you would need when you face similar situations in the future.
And sometimes the challenges you dodge today, will still catch up with you in
the future.”
This should be one of the books you should grab if you have been experienced losses
in your life. In the 17th chapter I called them STORM LOSSES AND GAINS. You would
notice that what you called a loss could have been a gain for you. I quote, “You should
be thanking God for losing some people in your life. There are people you
should lose as they overshadow who you are. They never took a part of you, but
somehow they left a part of themselves with you. That’s why you would feel as
if something about you is changing, once they are gone. This is because, a part
of themselves that they left will start to disappear as a part of you they
overshadowed becomes more visible. So, as they left you, you then found
yourself! As they deserted you, you found the real you, without their shadow-
effect. Therefore, their departure was never a loss but a gain.”

“In fact, the storm came to reveal what you no longer needed and what you
actually need. What you no longer needed had to be lost through the storm. It
had to be a storm that took it away from you because you would not let go of it
under calm circumstances. It had to get rough and tough for you to finally go
separate ways with your business partners.”

“Sometimes, the storm might have wrecked it, so that you do not build anything
like that again, but a better version of it. The better version will be able to
withstand the storms that may rise against it.”
Part of the vision you lost in the storm is not what you are supposed to pursue
and run with after the storm. What you lost in the storm was meant to be lost
but what you recovered from the storm was meant to remain…and become the
basis of what you are supposed to restructure and implement.

The book also talks about discovering self through your losses, storm encounters and
experiences. There is a lot about you the book may help you to discover as you page
through it. Get a copy and find out more on HOW TO NAVIGATE THROUGH
STORMS.
