1) Using the Organizational scanning principles, cite the specific issues that caused
the above companies failure?
- Walmart in Japan failed to differentiate their products to the market in the
different places or location. They are lack of research about the background
of the location and the needs or wants of the consumers.
- Home Depot in China’s problem is their DIY Attitude which is they didn’t think
or have not an idea of how to expand their DIY business. It’s lacked of proper
amount of preparation and social understanding it takes to successfully
navigate a new and foreign market.
- Starbucks in the Land down failed to apply in their products the taste of
Australians, they also failed to alter the physical stores to fit Australia’s idea of
what a coffee shop should look like.
- Coor’s slogan or messaging is lost translation in Spain. Their slogan is “Turn
it Loose” that translate to suffer from “diarrhea” in Spanish.
