answer)

D. EXPLAIN FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

20mins
 The female reproductive system is
one of the most vital parts of the
human reproductive process.

 Although a man is needed to

reproduce, it is the woman who
incubates the developing fetus and
delivers the child into the world.

The major organs of the female

reproductive system include:

 Vagina: This muscular tube receives

the penis during intercourse and
through it a baby leaves the uterus
during childbirth.

 Uterus: This organ holds and

nourishes a developing fetus if an
egg was properly fertilized.

 Ovaries: The female gonads, the

ovaries produce ova. When one
matures, it is released down into a
fallopian tube.

 Fallopian tubes: These small tubes

transport ova from the ovaries to
the uterus. This is where an egg
waits to be fertilized.

 Cervix: A narrow structure within

an inch long canal connecting the
lower end of the uterus to the
upper portion of the vagina.

 Vagina or birth canal: The vagina or

birth canal is the hallow tube
leading from the cervix to the
outside of the body. The wall is
elastic which allows it to expand
during childbirth and sexual
intercourse.
 Vulva: The external genitalia which

includes the following parts:

 Mons veneris. The mons veneris is

the hairy skin-covered pad of fat
over the pubic bone.
 labia minora. The labia minora is
the small lips covered with
modified skin.
 Labia majora. The labia majora is
the large lips covered with pubic
hair.
 Clitoris. The clitoris is the small
almond-shaped erectile tissue
located below the junction of two
minora.
 Vaginal orifice. The vaginal orifice is
the opening into the vagina.

Role of Female Sex Hormones

 The female reproductive system is

also regulated by hormones. The
follicles produce hormones that
control the growth and release of
eggs from the ovaries. While other
hormones prepare the uterus so a
baby can grow in it, other
hormones still control the
stretching of the uterus during
 pregnancy.

FEMALE
HORMONES
Estrogen: Development & maintenance of
female reproductive structures. Stimulates
growth of uterine lining.
Progesterone: Maintains uterine lining for
pregnancy.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone: Regulates
egg production in the ovaries.
Luteinizing Hormone: Induces ovulation.
E. ELABORATE Activity 1
You will be group into 5 with 6
members,each group will receive an
activity where in each group will determine
the parts of Female Reproductive System.
Explain the role of hormones in the Female
Reproductive System. After ward each
group will present their output in class.
