How do I know
if an idea is
good?
How do I know if an
idea is good?
Some ideas might seem bad at first, but
they could develop into a great idea. On
the other hand, an idea that seems
amazing initially might not old up as
time goes by.

There is no way to know if an idea will

be a huge success, but there are ways to
help improve an idea’s likelihood of
success.
What steps can I
take to produce
a big idea?
Reflect on yourself
• What are your skills?
• How it can be applied to a potential
idea?
• What you are passionate about?
• This passion will help you weather the
tough times as you start.

6
Look outward
• Study the world around you
• What problems does people encounter
that aren’t currently being solved?

7
Use these informations
• Consider how you can use your skills to
solve the problem you’ve found in way
that taps into your passions.

8
It is fine if you have
doubts about your idea
• You don’t need to have planned
everything before you start researching
and defining your idea.
• It is completely fine if you have doubts
about your idea so that you can
evaluate if your idea should be
downgraded from « good » to « not
worth my time »

9
Get feedbak
• Get feedbak from people you trust,
people in your field of expertise.
• Be open to criticism and suggestion.

10
Make a list of my skills, passions and
interests.

list Use design thinking to generate the best

idea.

Make a list of people I trust who could give

me feedback on the idea I come up with.

Design thinking
• Design thinking is the practice of mixing
creativity and structure to solve complex
problems.
• It is intended to be a synthesis between
analytical thought and intuitive thought. It is
part of a global approach called collaborative
design. It relies largely on a co-creativity
process involving feedback from the end
user.
• Design thinking is a great way to teach teams
and individuals how to generate and test
ideas creatively and effectively.
• Tree core E’s
• Empathy
• Expansive thinking
• Experimentation

13
Empathy
Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel
what another person is experiencing from
within their frame of reference, that is, the
capacity to place oneself in another's position.

• See the world from other people’s points of

view.
• Take inspiration from the final user real
needs.

14
Expensive thinking
• Think quantity.
• Instead of trying to think of one perfect
solution, think about your problem from all
conceivable angles to get several possible
solutions.
• Think big
• Challenge your team to come up with
ideas that aren’t just 10% better than the
status quo but 10x better.
• Let people in your team work on their
own first.

15
Experimentation
• Narrow your long list of ideas down to
the best ones through tests and
prototyping.

16
My To-do list
• Empathise with your users.
• Define your users’ needs, their
problem, and your insights.
• Ideate by challenging
assumptions and creating ideas for
innovative solutions.
• Prototype to start creating
solutions.
• Test solutions.

17
Questions
• Have I included a diversity of perspectives
in my brainstorming?
• Are some of my ideas useful, and some
not?
• Are my best ides 10x better than the status
quo?
• Do my ideas focus on the user?
• Have I narrowed down my list to the best
ideas?
• Do I have ideas that I am excited to test?

Thanks!
