Guide Questions
Explain the following briefly:

1. Why English language is now universally recognized as a global

language?

↪️English language or known as a universal language that is being

used or present in other countries, because it is easy to learn, speak,

and understand. With that being said, it can make communication

easier. English, in my opinion, is far easier to learn than any other

language. As you can see, this language is used in pageantry,

meetings, interviews, and so on, which is why it is so important in our

daily lives, because it makes everything easier, and there are many

opportunities you can get or benefit from with it, such as landing a

job or advancing in your chosen career.

2. The Necessity of Learning the English Language?

↪️ In elementary, high school, and college, English is taught. Since

English is now widely acknowledged as a global language and plays a

significant role in many aspects of our lives, learning it is crucial for

all of us. It is very important because it facilitates communication

among the various parts of the community. English is important for

many reasons, including our ability to find employment and advance

in our chosen fields of study.

3. Foreigners who visit in the Philippines are using English

Language. In your own perspective, why can we not use our own

dialect (Cebuano or Tagalog) in communicating with them?

↪️In my opinion, speaking English is absolutely necessary for us to be

able to understand one another since the majority of foreign visitors

to the Philippines speak English as their first language. Since I'm a

Filipino, it's acceptable for me to speak cebuano or tagalog, but for

foreigners, especially those who are just visiting, the word "visit"

refers to exploring or experiencing the Philippines. They will find it

very difficult to process the communication if I immediately start

speaking to them in our own language. We are unable to

communicate with one another. Since they are in our country, we can

teach them simple Cebuano or Tagalog words so that they can learn

about our culture and traditions.

Guide Questions

Explain the following briefly:

1. The importance of Speech and Oral Communication

↪️ Speech is important because it enables us to connect, influence

decisions, and motivate change. Without communication skills, it

would be nearly impossible to advance in the workplace and in life.

One of the most important and feared forms of communication is

public speaking. Oral communication allows people to express their

emotions, ideas, and feelings; it allows people to empower, inspire,

and motivate those who listen; and it allows people to share their
knowledge and traditions while also building their self-esteem. Oral

communication can also lead us to new discoveries, ideas, cultures,

and points of view.

2. The Stages of Oral Communication

↪️Stages of Oral Communication

• Perceiving Stage – it is a process with a stimulus in a form of

occurrence such as an ideas, a starting news a disagreeable remark or

a positive comment that the sensory process of a person whom we

shall identify as sender of the message.

• Thinking Stage – is a stimulus transmitted by the sense fiber to the

brain which in turn recognizing the events.

• Symbolizing Stage – in this stage, thoughts are being encoded, into

language, symbols/words which must be in language that the listener

knows and understand.

• Expressing Stage – in this stage, speaker reacts to say his thoughts

aloud in language and the symbols he has chosen.

• Transmitting Stage – speech sounds are uttered in sequence to

transmit the message.

• Receiving Stage – in this stage, sound containing the message are

heard and gestures accompany them are seen by the receiver.

• Decoding Stage – the eyes and ears of the receiver conduct messages

to the brain known as decoding stage.

• Monitoring Stage – the response carried by the wavelength to the

original source of the message.

•Reacting Stage – there is a feedback keeps coming back and forth.

• Terminating Stage – a mutual interaction takes place and coming.

3. In your own words, enumerate the significant roles of the speech

mechanism and the articulators.

↪️The speech mechanism serves two purposes: one is biological, such

as breathing and feeding, and the other is speech, which generates

various combinations that result in various sounds. The speech is the

result of four processes that occur concurrently and collaboratively.

The tongue, upper lip, lower lip, upper teeth, upper gum ridge

(alveolar ridge), hard palate, velum (soft palate), uvula (free-hanging

end of soft palate), pharyngeal wall, and glottis are the main

articulators (space between the vocal cords).
