In English we do not use Du/Sie. But we have other ways of showing politeness to
members of the public. Using Sir and Ma'am is one way to show politeness, it is the
same as using the German “Sie.”
Another way to be polite is to use the word “Yes” instead of “Yeah” (which sounds
like “Ja” in German).
Hello. How can I help you Sir/Ma'am? Hallo, wie kann ich ihnen hilfen?
Yes Sir/Ma'am, I can help you. Ja, ich kann ihnen hilfen.
