I.

Lego Mindstorm NXT


Aim: To design a line tracking robot using STEM concept on Lego mindstorm kit.The main endeavor
of this activity is to escalate the student’s ability of critical thinking and knowledge integration in
real world problems.
Activity 1: Line tracking Robot
Robot will start from a designated slot and will follow the path that is a black line on a white
surface. Robot is designed to follow the black line by using IR sensors and actuators.

Possible Targets:
Students will comprehend effectively to integrate the mechanical assembly of a robot with the
relevant circuitry. The associated circuitry involves the usage of motors, sensors and different
power supplies.
Students will get hands on training to program a Line Tracking Robot.

Winning Criteria:

Winning Criteria is dependent on the following criterias:


1. Robot should be able to complete the assigned task in the given time slot.
2. Program logic building will be evaluated.
3. The winning team will be decided on the basis of completeness and accuracy of the assigned tasks.
4. In case of a tie, the program logic will be assessed.
5. Participation certificates will be awarded to all participants
6. Winning prize and certificate will be awarded to the winners

Rules:
 Maximum 2-5 members in a team.
 Registration fee
 All the teams will be given the same time frame.

 Discipline should be observed.
 All the teams should not damage the university property. This will lead to disqualification of the said
team.
 All the material allotted to a team should be handled with care.
 Bullying and disrespectful behaviors for other teams would lead to disqualification of the individual
team.

II. Speed Wiring


Aim: To design a circuit by learning the breadboard and Printed Circuit Board making techniques. The
students will be able to comprehend the involved electronics, DC and AC sources, Series and
parallel combinations. This activity will give you an insight into the current and voltages
calculations. Students will be able to learn voltages, currents, and Resistances through the usage of
Digital Multimeter. The hands on activity will make you learn the practical applications of
Kirchoff’s Laws which lays the foundation for basic Electric Circuits. After successful completion
of the activity students will strengthen the foundational electrical engineering concepts..
Activity 1: Line tracking Robot
Students will be given the circuits and Breadboards. The circuits may have different resistive
combinations that might help in increasing understanding of series and parallel combinations.
Circuits has to be made on the breadboards. The students will fill in the required measured
information of currents, and voltages on the given task sheets.

Possible Targets:
Students will comprehend effectively to understand the flow of electrical energy, current and
voltages divisions in series and parallel circuits, power dissipation and power release concepts.
Winning Criteria:

1. Students should be able to complete the assigned task in the given time slot.
2. Circuit building and analysis on the basis of current and voltages divisions, as well as power
consumption calculations will be evaluated.
3. The winning team will be decided on the basis of completeness and accuracy of the assigned tasks.
4. Participation certificates will be awarded to all participants
5. Winning prize and certificate will be awarded to the winners
