WEEK 1 : ICE BREAKING, BRIEFING ABOUT THE COURSE AND INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL AND

HEALTH EDUCATION

20 October 2021

1.0 Summary

In week 1, I had an ice breaking session with my classmates to know each other well.
I also learned about the course outline and course content to give me a view of what will I face
during this semester. During the class, I got educated about the introduction of physical and health
education. Both physical and health education are very important and dependence to each other to
produce an individual than can reach the optimum condition of their health. From the subtopics that
I had learned during this week, now I knew what is the importance of physical education and also
the main objective of physical education.

2.0 Reflective Writing

Thus, from what I have obtained during my first class, I see that ice breaking session is very
important. This is because to have a good communication with others, we need to know them well
to avoid misunderstandings. In addition, I can also know the strengths and the weaknesses of my
friends which is very important in building a good bonding. So, I can apply this activity to my
students during the first class of the year or the semester. This ice breaking session will help them
know each other well and help them to complete a group task properly. They also will enjoy
themselves and their grades will be better. Their task products will also be very quality and
thoroughly.

On the other hand, the course outline and course content had given me a view for the
syllabus and the things that will I learn. This is a very important thing for me as a teacher to give the
course outline to all of my students. By giving them all of those things, I am pretty sure it can make
them ready physically and mentally for the upcoming chapters and challenges. They can also study
by themselves before they enter the class to help them understanding the subjects well.

During the lectures, I learned something new that physical education teacher is not
responsible to produce the athletes. The main job for physical education teacher is to provide
students with all necessary skills and knowledge for them to apply a healthy lifestyle. So, I must
ensure all of my students know how to maintain their health physically and mentally properly by
their own feet. They need to make sure that they have sufficient sleep, do a physical activity and also
plan a healthy diet for their meals.

Other than that, I am also play a huge role to develop a whole child concept in the cognitive,
psychomotor and affective aspects. The cognitive aspect refers to the individual intellectual while
the psychomotor and affective refer to the movement and emotions including the spiritual
respectively. All of these aspects can be called as the learning domain. In order to ensure the
students, understand the concept well, I will ask them to elaborate all of the aspect that are
available in one gross motor skills activity such as passing a ball.
In conclusion, there are several things that I want to critic about being the physical
education teacher. The first one is the time period for the physical and health education subject is
very short. This situation has led the students to give some negative perceptions that this subject is
not so important. Even though the subject is not part of the vital examination, but it is very
important for them to apply it in their lifestyle. So, I hope the school management will pay more
attention to this subject and not take it for granted. In addition, the schools especially in the rural
areas always lack of facilities for their students to run some physical activities. Thus, they cannot
apply what have they learned successfully. I am very hope that the authorized agency can donate
some financial for the schools upgrade their facilities.
WEEK 2: THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

26 OCTOBER 2021

1.0 Summary

Our lesson during this week is the importance of physical education. From what I
have learned, proper physical education will help us maintain our body and mental health.
So, there are several points that have been highlighted during the class.

2.0 Reflective Writing

Based on what I have learned, physical education plays a huge role to provide a basic skill
in physical activities. This is very important to ensure the students can at least do a basic activity on
their own. So, as a teacher, I should do a demonstration about physical activity for them to
understand it thoroughly. For instance, I can show them the proper way how to serve the
shuttlecock.

In addition, doing physical activities can also encourage us a healthy and active lifestyle.
Having a healthy and lifestyle are very crucial for us to maintain our body at its optimum condition.
So, we can avoid the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) and continue having our routine normally.
By being a responsible teacher, I will ask my student to plan their meal properly according to the
food pyramid and also do exercises during the evening.

On the other hand, physical activities will develop student’s competence and confidence to
take part in a range of physical activities. For instance, sending them to the tournament will
gradually improve their confidence as they need to trust themselves to make sure they can perform
in their game well. They will also be more competent as they need to compete with others to show
their current prestation.

Besides that, it can create enjoyment while doing the activities to improve fitness and
personal health. Physical activity will be really enjoyable if we play it with our friends or even by
ourselves. It can help us reduce our stress after a heavy work and can also train our stamina. Thus, as
a good teacher, I will encourage them to have some fun with doing some activities to reduce their
stress after a day focusing on the class.

Next, the importance of physical activities is to enhance and improve our communication
skills, positive relationship and apply creative and critical thinking through physical and health
activities. For instance, by doing physical activities that require teamwork, we can train our
communication skills as we need to discuss the best strategy to win a game. We also push our brain
to think creatively and unusually so that our strategy can be the best. This is very suitable for me to
apply it to my student. As example, I will ask my students to form a group and football together. So,
it will train their decision making in certain situation and develop respect to their friends.

In conclusion, physical education is very important in our life. So, I hope the teachers and the
students will take this subject seriously as it can give big impact in our life. Nowadays, it is very sad
to say that physical education subject is always being replaced by the other subject as it does not
give any credits in public examination. Thus, I hope the school management can reconsider this
problem as it can affect the student’s health.
WEEK 3 : NATIONAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION DOMAINS

31 Oktober 2021

1.0 Summary

In this week, I have learned about the National Education Philosophy (NEP) and the physical
education domains. Not only that, I also learned about the three learning domains which refer to
psychomotor, affective and cognitive aspect in doing the physical activities.

2.0 Reflective Writing

The aim of NEP is to develop the potential of individuals in term of holistic and integrated
manners. Holistic individual is individual who fulfilled the whole child concept in the aspect of
cognitive, psychomotor and affective. So, when this concept achieved, the individual will be
intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually balanced. Thus, we can say that physical and
health education is the only subject that met the requirement of NEP rather than another subjects.

I could apply this concept to my student by teaching them the proper physical activities. This
is because doing physical activities will lead them to use all of the learning domains. For instance, in
passing a ball, the student will move their leg and kick the ball which the psychomotor aspect is
being applied. They also use their brain to make a decision such as when is the right time to pass a
ball which representing the cognitive aspect. In term of affective, they need to obey the rule that has
been set.

In the other hand, NEP is also focusing to produce Malaysian citizens who are
knowledgeable and competent and also who possess high moral standard. By achieving all of these
traits, the citizens can contribute to the community and also even for the country very well. For
instance, people with integrated manners will complete their task properly and honestly. They will
not be cheating and will give full concentration to their work. So, the country will not be having any
inner problem such as bribe and chicane.

Thus, to produced that kind of person, we need to train them since kids. So, as a teacher I
will find them commensurately to teach them a lesson if they do something wrong. By using this
action, I am pretty sure they will be well-behaved and feel responsible. They will be someone that
can be relied on to rule and conduct our country in the future.

Moving to the next gist, I also learned about the physical education domains. In
psychomotor domain, we have six elements which are speed, endurance, agility, precision, strength
and flexibility. Actually, it has more than that but the six factors are the basic ones. In order to
master the psychomotor aspect, we need to do physical activities every day. So, we can improve all
of the six elements. The examples activity that we can do is rope jumping, jogging, hiking and so on.
In affective domains, it focuses on three aspect which are social development, moral development
and emotional development.

In conclusion, the NEP is very important for the teachers and students to know. This is
because if the education system follows the NEP properly, a lot of holistic and integrated manners
individuals will be produced. So, our country will have a brighter future as we have a ton of quality
and productive young generations that will govern our country in the future. So, as teachers, we
need to nurture and teach our students very well to make them beneficial and not being waste for
the country. Other than that, the teachers need to plan their lesson properly according to the three
learning domains to produce individual that fulfilled the whole child concept.
WEEK 4 : UNIQUE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, DEFINITION OF TEACHING AND LEARNING, THE ROLES
OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

6 November 2021

1.0 Summary

During this week, I learned about the unique of physical education and also the
definition of teaching and learning. Physical education subject is the only subject that fully
fulfilled the National Education Philosophy. Other than that, by entering the class, I can
elaborate the real meaning of teaching and learning from now on. In addition, I also learned
about the roles of physical education teacher which is really important for me as a future
teacher.

2.0 Summary

The unique of physical education subject is it is the only subject which focused on the three
learning domains. With only a single activity or lesson, it can focus on psychomotor, cognitive and
also affective aspect.

Besides that, by attending the class, I can give the real definition of teaching and learning
now. For your information, teaching is an art of giving instruction and really related to the pedagogy.
As a teacher, I should know the proper ways to teach the students. Different class of students need
different method of teaching. For instance, I cannot use the same method of teaching for students in
Standard 1 and Standard 2. Standard 2 need more challenging activities or they will be tedious. They
will also refuse to attend your class for the next time. So, to prevent this situation from happening, I
will make activities that require the students to think critically and have good focus. Thus, they will
not be sleepy and enjoy my class.

On the other hand, learning can be defined as the relatively permanent change in behavior
potentiality that results from reinforced practice or experience. For instance, in the end of the
lesson, they must master what have they learned during the class. As example, my student who
knows nothing can gradually dribble a ball after attending my class. So, when change in behavior
occurred, it shows that the person is learning something and progressing.

Moving to the next gist, I also learned about the roles of physical and health education
teacher. As a teacher, I play a huge role to provide maximum physical activity time within the class
period. For instance, if the class period is one hour, I need to ensure my students to do physical
activities at least for 40 minutes. This is because in many schools, the distance between the field and
the classroom is quite far. So, the students need some extra time to attend physical education class.
By maximizing the physical activities, my student can enjoy my lesson and get a lot of benefit from it.

Next, it is my duty to teach my students about the skills, activities and knowledge that will
be applied in their daily life. So, they can apply what they have been taught to maintain healthy
lifestyle. They can also use all of the skills learned to be more competitive in physical activities. Other
than that, a teacher is also responsible to motivate students to be active and apply healthy lifestyle.
Thus, I need to provide my students with a lot of enjoyment and meaningful activities so that they
will feel encouraged to maintain their health. The teachers can also inspire their students by
organizing or conducting a mini tournament and give some prize for the winners. This situation will
lead the students to take part in physical activities frequently.
In addition, as a physical and health education teacher, I need to show a good example to
my student. I need to apply a healthy lifestyle first before I can ask them to do that. This is very
important because most of the students will follow their teacher’s behavior. So, I need to make sure
that my Body Mass Index is normal to convince my students to believe all of my tips and lesson.
It will be hard for the students to trust my tips if my body is in overweight state. Last but not least,
PHE teacher must have a good leadership. I can increase my leadership skills by being a active
members of the school committee and also by organizing some school events such as the sport day.

In conclusion, the physical education is very unique and different from other subjects. This is
because it is the only subject who fulfilled the requirement of NEP. So, I am quite disappointed when
there are certain schools in Malaysia take this subject for granted. In worst situation, there are
physical education teachers ask the students to do their own job without teaching them anything. It
is a shame for the teachers as our jobs are to provide the students with necessary skills and
knowledge for them to apply a healthy lifestyle. So, I very hope physical education will be the
importance subject in public examination one day.
WEEK 5 : PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

13 November 2021

1.0 Summary :

In week 5, I learned about the physical and health education curriculum in secondary
school. For each form, the “ Dokumen Standard Pembelajaran dan Pentaksiran ” (DSPK) will
be different according to their syllabus. In the syllabus, the topics and the skills that will they
learned are usually the same but the action or activities will be different.

2.0 Reflective Writing

In physical education syllabus, it is divided into two parts or aspects. The first one is
about the skill (75%) and the second one is about the fitness (25%). For the skills, the
students will learn all of these components which are movement concept, fundamental
movement, manipulative skill, gymnastic, TGFU, athletic, aquatic, rhythmic movement and
recreation. So, each student will learn these skills but different in action according to their
form. For examples form 1 student will learn running skills for the athletic while form 2
students will learn about the long jump skills.

For the topics in fitness, I learned about the cardiovascular endurance, muscle
endurance, muscle strength, flexibility and body composition. All of these topics have been
structured based on the three learning domains.

On the other hand, in health education syllabus, it is divided into three parts. The
first one is Health Reproductive and Social (75%). Reproductive health means a state of
complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or
infirmity. The next one is about the nutrition. Taking a good nutrition is very important as it
can help maintain our body health at optimum state. So, it will be hard for us to fall sick

Last but not least, I also learned about the first aid in health education. It tells me
the proper way and what I need to do in the first place when emergency occurs.

To sum up, DSKP is very important for the students to be taught properly. This is
because DSKP provides essential knowledge and skills for the students to maintain healthy
lifestyles. For the teachers, I would like to remind that our job to help our students. So,
please do teach our students with motivations and passion. We are the one who
responsible to be their reference and role-models for them to have a healthy lifestyle.
WEEK 6 : TEACHING GAME FOR UNDERSTANDING

21 NOVEMBER 2021

1.0 Summary

For week 6, I learned about Teaching Game for Understanding (TGFU). So, when mentioned
there is about the game, I cannot use this kind of method to teach my students about sport or
anything else. I need to create a game with creativity so that my students will enjoy my class and
the probability for them to absent my class is very low.

2.0 Reflective Writing

First and foremost, there are six of TGFU concepts. The first one is teaching games through
games. For instance, we can teach students playing badminton by playing badminton. The next is
breaking games into their simplest format. As example, we can teach our students playing football
by teaching them how to kick a ball first. The third one is every learner is important and is involved.
So, as a teacher, we cannot let our student being in the class alone or doing something else.

Moving to the next point, the participants need to know about the subject matter. Here
means, the students must know the importance and the consequences when they learn the subject.
Other than that, we need also to match participants skill and challenge. For instance, the students in
higher grade need more challenging activities in their games. If we failed to do that, they may get
bored and refuse to attend our class. The last one is all participants are intelligent performance. The
meaning here is everyone is learning so we cannot judge them if they have problems to do what we
are teaching.

Basically, we have four game categories for the TGFU. The first one is target game. For target
game, the main objective is to place or throw an object near or in a target in order to have the best
possible score. The games that apply this concept are bowling, darts, golf and also archery. Thus, as
a teacher, I can create mini target game that will be challenging and fun for them. For instance, I will
make a dart game but the dart I will replace it with soft tip dart. So, it will not be harmful for my
students. Then, to make it more exciting, the students must spin themselves for 3 seconds before
they can make an attempt.

Moving to the next game, the second one is net and wall games. The aim of this game is to
hit the ball or object into the opponents’ court within boundaries. So, it will make the participants
more competitive as they need to attack the opponent’s court while defend their base. The famous
examples are badminton, ping-pong, tennis and so on. However, we can modify it if we want to
teach our students. For instance, I can create the 4 square badminton game to make it more
interesting.

Next, the third game is fielding and striking games. For this type of game, it requires two
team which include an opponent team and a defending team. The primary objective of this game is
to hit the object into a specified open area while the defending team tries to catch the object or get
it to a designated area. From its definition, it is so obvious that this kind of game need a great
teamwork. The usual examples of this game are baseball, cricket, netball and so on.
Finally, the last game is invasion and territory games. The essential component for this game
is to score points in an allotted amount of time by invading the opponent’s territory. The games that
apply this concept are rugby, football and many more. Similar to the previous game, invasion and
territory games need a good teamwork and also a good strategy to win.

To tip my pen, TGFU is very essential thing for the teacher to master. This is because TGFU
really has high potential to help the students increase the amount of active participation, promote
enjoyment, mental and physical engagement while they develop their motor skills. Other than that,
TGFU gives students a tactical awareness of different games. Then, it will push the students to think
outside the box and wider. So, I am pretty sure if I can master TGFU very well in the future, my
students will take this subject seriously and they will be happy and excited to attend my class and
doing physical activities.
WEEK 7 : MAKING PREPARATION FOR TGFU PRESENTATION
WEEK 8 : MASTERY LEARNING

1.0 SUMMARY

8 November 2021

During this week, I have learned about mastery learning which can guide us to use in
teaching lessons. Mastery learning contains 3 part which is the concept of mastery learning,
principles of mastery learning, and characteristic of mastery learning.

2.0 REFLECTIVE WRITING

In mastery learning, as a teacher, I have to ensure the student can achieve the objective
lesson through my activity. Before achieving this, I need to come out with a plan for my learning
session and I have to determine my learning objective in terms of psychomotor, cognitive, and
affective aspects. For example, I’m teaching about dribbling opponents in football for my students,
so at the end of the learning process, they will be able to dribble. If not, I can’t proceed and let my
students continue to the next chapter which is passing.

Next, the concept of mastery learning had been given me a clear view of this topic. As a
teacher, I need to make sure all of my students can acquire the objective lesson that I plan during
the teaching lesson. This is because some students are slower in mastering and learning skills than
the others, but that doesn’t mean they can’t learn them. So, I need to provide activities that are
appropriate for my students as some of them are advanced, intermediate, and beginner. By
considering my student’s abilities, I’m sure that all of them can acquire the skills in my activities.

Besides that, the topic and skills provided to the students must be clear. By ensuring a clear
topic, I must consider the progression or level difficulties students. I have to provide the activities
from simple to complex. For example, in the first activity, I provide three meters for my students to
dribble the ball. After that, they will go to the second activity which requires dribbling the ball within
5 meters. If my students follow these activities, I’m sure they can improve their skills without any
protest.
In the characteristic of mastery learning, students should be able to master at least eighty
per cent of skills. Other than that, I also need to classify the students for those who can and who
can’t achieve the lesson objective. The students who can’t master the skills will join the remedial
activities to fix their problems. While, the students who achieve the objective will proceed with
enrichment activities for them to learn new skills. Both of these activities will be done
simultaneously where all students will be involved. So, no students are left behind during the
activities that can lead them to lose interest in physical activities.

In conclusion, Teachers using mastery learning develop more positive attitudes toward
teaching, have higher expectations for students, and take greater personal responsibility for learning
outcomes. For students who master the material in a lesson can more easily learn new material. The
skills and concepts students acquire provide a very strong foundation for learning new skills and
concepts. They are more confident that they will be able to learn new material.
WEEK 9 : CONSTRUCTIVISM THEORY

20 DICEMBER 2021

1.0 Summary

During this week, I learned about constructivism theory. Constructivism theory is one of
the teaching methods which give a big impact to the students. It is also a new teaching method
that has been invented during the 21 st century.

2.0 Reflective writing

For the concept, I understand that the students must constructs their own understanding
and knowledge through experience things and reflecting on those experiences. For example, I will
ask them to create the athletic track without giving them any tips. So, the students will start to
construct the knowledge and information when they try to figure the best way out.

Next, in this theory, the students are the active creators and learners of their own
knowledge. For instance, they are the ones who need to explore the information and keep asking
the questions for them to gain the knowledge while the teachers are required to facilitate the
students during the session. As a consequence, a passive student will be left behind if he or she does
not follow the progressions. So, all of the students need to take part seriously.

Moving to the next point, in constructivism theory, the student must be very collaborative
with their friends. As example, all of the groupmates must have their own task. So, they can
exchange information among themselves which can boost their motivation to search more. This is
because using this method, the student cannot proceed individually. It requires a good teamwork or
nothing will be gained at the end of the lesson.

The students then need to reflex on and talk about what they are doing and how their
understanding is changing. To do this, they can have Q&A session to measure how far is their
understanding.
WEEK 10 : HORWARD GARDNERS THEORY OF INTELLIGENCE & TEACHING SKILLS AND APPROACH

4 JANUARI 2022

1.0 Summary

During this week, I learned about Horward Gardner’s theory of intelligence. He proposes
that people are not born with all of the intelligence they will ever have. This theory is to challenge
the traditional notion that there is only one intelligence exist. It is also sometimes known as ‘g’ which
represent general information that only focuses on cognitive abilities. Other than that, I also about
teaching skills and teaching approach.

2.0 Reflective Writing

According to Horward Gardner’s theory, intelligence can be classed into 8 categories. Those
intelligences are musical, kinesthetic, visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal, linguistic, mathematical
and the new one is naturalistic. All of them have their own advantage. It is impossible to have a
person born with all those intelligences and if exist, it will be one in a million. So, having one of them
will make someone eligible to be considered as intelligent people. Hence, as a future teacher I
cannot underestimate my students as they weak in only certain subjects.

People or students with good musical intelligence can master well about the musical stuff.
For instance, they can play vary types of musical instrument without having any problems and also
can decipher the musical chords easily. While, people with good kinesthetic can perform very good
in activities that involving their body. For example, they are very skilled in sport and outdoor
activities. They also have excellent physical coordination. In term of visual smart, they are great in
interpreting the pictures, charts and even the graphs. They can also recognize pattern easily and if
they keep sharpening their talent, they can be decent architect or engineer. For interpersonal
intelligence, the individuals usually have high social skill. They can communicate well verbally and
nonverbally. The also will be the one that can resolve the conflict that occurs in group.

People with good linguistic are able to explain and presents things well while people with
mathematical intelligence have excellent problem-solving skills and they can also solve complex
computation. Other than that, some people are also good in intrapersonal which lead them to have
good awareness about their own selves. They can analyze their strengths and weaknesses well and
also understand their basic motivations and feelings.

Regarding to previous paragraph, I cannot judge my students just only they are weak in my
subject. This is because maybe they are very good in other subject or they are very well in sport. So,
the teachers should appreciate their student’s achievement by giving them some gift. This situation
can motivate them to come to school as their talent are being appreciated and accepted.

For teaching approach, the example is inductive, deductive, student-centered and teacher-
centered. In term of inductive, student will do specified lesson to general. While, for deductive,
student will breakdown general lesson to specified lesson. For instance, I can apply inductive lesson
by teaching my student to pass a ball and then bring it into real football match. For deductive, I can
ask my students to elaborate something that they observed or experienced.

On the other hand, I also learned about the teacher-centered and student-centered. In term
of student-centered, teacher will act as facilitator to guide and facilitate the students to gain
knowledge on their own. Students need to explore the knowledge by their own selves. For teacher-
centered, it more focusing on the teacher to give the instructions. So, the students just need to hear
and follow their teachers.
As a future teacher, I think I will use teacher-centered method to teach something that is high
risk such as swimming. This is because without proper guidance, it can threaten their lives. To
prevent that happen, I must show the appropriate steps and safety to ensure they can reach the
objective off my class. For theory class, I will prefer using the student-centered to ensure they can
full maximize and utilize their thinking and ideas.

In conclusion, do not judge our students lightly as their have their own potential. So, as a
teacher, I need to find the best way available to enrich and hone my student’s talent. Giving them
reward can boost their motivation to go to school and make their future better.
WEEK 11: TEACHING APPROACH & TEACHING METHOD

1.0 Summary

In week 11, I continued to learn about the teaching approach and learn the new contents
which is teaching method. As a teacher, we should know what is the best teaching method to fully
maximize students’ understanding.

2.0 Reflective Writing

In teaching approach, there is also material-based learning. This strategy encourages

students to learn on their own with the guidance of the teacher. Thus, I think it would be great if I
can provide colorful charts and diagrams to attract the students. So, the probability for my students
to focus and pay a full of attention are very high. The students can also use the latest technology
such as tablets, visualizer and handphones to help them more understand.

Next, we have task-based learning. This strategy requires student to be involved in task or
activities to apply skills and knowledge. The teachers need to plan and prepare the learning activities
to stimulate students’ interest and motivation. It is also required two-way communication or it will
just same with the teacher-centered. At the end of the class, feedbacks from the students are very
important to determine whether they can understand the contents or not. As a teacher, we can
make Q&A session or quiz to obtain their feedback.

Moving to the new topic, I learned about teaching method. There are lot of effective method
that you can use to teach your students according to the situation and resource limit. On of them is
demonstration. Demonstration is very suitable if the contents that you want to teach involves major
muscle motion. A good demonstration must have 3 phases which is preparation, execution and
follow through. The demonstration can also be repeated many times so if my students who have
missed my explanation, they can watch it again. Maybe I will use this method if I need to teach my
students about serving the volleyball in the future.

Next, as a future teacher, I have another option which is discussion. To apply this strategy, I
need to make sure I have enough time to be considered. This is because when it comes to
discussion, it will take a long time as all the students need to involve and think. So, all the students
must be active learners or they will be left behind.

Other than that, there is also inquiry base learning method. It requires the students to
explore a process with huge level questioning, exploration, research and information gathering. So,
the teachers only need to be their guidance and facilitator. The students themselves must be active
learners or else they will not gain nothing in the end of the class. Thus, what can I say here, this
method is part of the constructivism theory.

Last but not least, I can also another alternative method such as brain storming, storytelling,
forum and debate. For some situation, using story telling can attract your student to hear your
lecture. This is because it can trigger the inquiries in their mind and more casual.

In conclusion, excellent teachers will attract more students. So, as a future teacher, I need to
plan well my lesson and find a way how to attract their attention to attend my class. There are lot of
teaching methods and approach that can be applied to make learning process more interesting as
mentioned above. As a consequence, it will be hard for my students to not attend my class if my
class is full of enjoyment and not in cliché way.

WEEK 12: BRIEF LECTURE ABOUT MOSSTON’S STYLE & THE DIFFERECE BETWEEN
TEACHING STYLE, TEACHING METHODS AND TEACHING APPROACH

1.0 Summary

This morning, my classmates and I presented about the Mosston’s style that is applicable in
teaching the physical education subjects. There are all 11 methods of teaching style and each of
them have their own strengths and weaknesses. Other than that, I can also differentiate the
difference between teaching style, teaching methods and teaching approach.

2.0 Reflective writing

To be a good physical education teacher, I need to know and conquer at least five of the
teaching styles which represent command, practice, reciprocal, self-check and inclusive. For
command style, teachers will make all the decisions and the students will follow the instruction. So, I
think a suitable lesson to apply command style is swimming.

Next, practice style requires students to run and carry out the tasks that has been prescribed
by their teacher. The teachers will give orders and they will apply it in group. For instance, a group of
students is practicing the badminton skills together. Other than that, we also have reciprocal style. In
reciprocal, students usually work in pairs and sometimes it can be three. The teachers need to
prepare the criteria sheets and one student will perform it while the others will provide feedback. To
attract the students, I need to ensure the criteria sheets and charts are attractive enough for the
students.

Moving to the next point, we have self-check style. It is quite similar with reciprocal but it is
not required to work in pairs. You can do it by individually. So, the teacher just needs to prepare the
lesson or skills and make attractive charts. As a consequence, they will be interested to hold the
criteria charts and join your class with great enthusiasm. Lastly, I learned about inclusive style. In
inclusive style, I need to prepare different activities but in in the same topics according to the
student abilities. So, the students will choose the activities based on their level and the probability
for them to not attend my class is very low.

To tip my pen, there are some topics that I want to highlight now. It is about the difference
between teaching style, teaching methods and teaching approach. In physical education, we have
