For the Trinidad Express publications, Andy Johnson currently writes editorials, columns, and
contributions. The local press has featured Andy on a variety of occasions. The morning edition
of TV6 was formerly hosted by him from 2003 to 2010. In this newspaper article, Andy looked
at the cost-of-living crisis from a regional, international and local perspective. The article
examined the causes and effects on the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Johnson identified
that 80 percent of inflation causes were global. He continued by pointing out that the Bank of
England has connected this to an ongoing chips shortage. On top of an energy crisis, a supply
chain catastrophe in 2021, and the now occurring war in Ukraine as a major impact of inflation,
Covid is reported to have left its consequences. This article was essential to the study and thesis
since it provided concrete details relevant to the inflation crisis and how it impacts low-income
households in Trinidad and Tobago. The editor further emphasized the reality that Trinidadians
essentially just go to work; in other words, they do not get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Andy
provided a lot of crucial statistical information. This really is the main strategy promoted in the
study, and the study's strength because it offers necessary supporting evidence and regional and
international comparisons.

Dr. Vaalmiki Arjoon, an economist at the University of the West Indies, provided remarks for
the Trinidad Express publications where he ponders on if Trinidad and Tobago's cost of the
living problem has received enough attention. With a cumulative deficit of more than $64 billion
over the previous six years, averaging $10.7 billion per year, Arjoon stated, it is extremely
favorable that the deficit is lowered to a predicted $3.7 billion, the lowest fiscal deficit since
2012. Arjoon also implied that there needed to have a more effective system of tax collecting is
required. He predicted stronger energy income in the upcoming months, largely as a result of the
worsening energy situation in Europe brought on by the Nord Stream gas pipeline's prolonged
closure, which further reduced European gas supplies. The current national level of prices is the
highest in many ages. Our price index at the end of June 2022 was 116.2, up 11% since 2016.

Based in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago, the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation
manages mutual funds. The firm is known to be the top mutual fund provider in the Caribbean
and it was established in 1981 as a result of a parliamentary act. In this webpage article, The
Unit Trust Corporation noted patterns indicating that households have decreased their
investment efficiency in an effort to cope with the growing costs of living. The article examined
that buyer confidence reached even relatively low levels, according to the report, and it appears
that the pace of expenditure will slow down in the latter half of 2022. The author continued by
pointing out that because consumerism is the primary engine of socioeconomic growth in the
US, this will have the impact of slowing down GDP growth. This article was essential to the
study and thesis since it provided concrete details relevant to the inflation crisis and how it
impacts low-income households in Trinidad and Tobago. The author also made it clear that in the
upcoming months, it is anticipated that local prices of food products and other things would
continue to rise owing to inflationary pressures, which is the overall price hike brought on by an
escalation in the cost of imported merchandise or services. From the viewpoint of a financial
