ACTIVITY NO. 01 LIVING IN THE IT ERA

(INFORMATICS)
1. Identify computers that you would find in a laboratory that would provide
data analysis for informative information.
 The computers find in a laboratory that provide data analysis for
informative information are medical computers, desktop PC’s, stationary
desktop PC’s, embedded computers in ORs, ICUs, BYOD, and computer
scanners.
Discuss all its function and provide an image that would describe.
 Medical computer’s functions are hospital information system, data
analysis in medicine, medical imaging laboratory computing, computer
assisted medical decision making, care of critically ill patients and
computer assisted therapy. This provides quick access to information
especially for care.
Desktop and stationary PC’s functions are it monitor patients, used for
research and studies for healthcare, it keeps all the patient’s data
organized, secure and easily accessible, and also for communication and
telemedicine in healthcare setting. Healthcare provider can power
electronic health records, electronic medical records, laboratory
information systems, picture archiving and communication systems and
clinical decision supports system using this.

Embedded computers in ORs and ICUs function are used for patients
monitoring especially vital signs, for amplifying sounds in electronic
stethoscope and in nearly every kind of imaging system including PET
scans, CT scan and MRIs. This also makes the device hardware
accessible to software that is running on top of operating system.

BYOD computer function is for employee’s personal devices/ computers

for professional purposes in healthcare setting.
Computer scanner’s function are used to produce pictures of the human
body, it utilized to evaluate and assist in the diagnosis of a disease state, it
also allows for the development of a personalized treatment plan for the
patient.
