Let’s check if your answers are correct. (performing the clap)
Very Good! Now let’s give ourselves a Mommy D. clap.

3. Review Our topic last meeting was all

Before we will discuss our new lesson today, who about substance.
can still remember our topic last meeting?
(answers vary)

Correct! Now, what is a substance?

Yes Teacher, we are ready.

Very Good! You already know of what a substance is and
I hope that you are ready for our new lesson this
morning. Are you ready class?

Good to hear.
Wow! A dessert halo-halo
4. Motivation teacher.
Class, I have here a picture. What can you see in
this picture?

Yes Teacher, many times.

There are lots of ingredients that were mixed and the
word “halo-halo” means “mix”.
A coffee teacher.
How about this second picture.

(raising hands)

Who among you here drank milk this morning?

Maybe teacher!
Okay, milk is good for our body especially for you (other responses)
children.
Yes, Teacher!
Earlier, you said that halo-halo is a mixture and you even
easily identify that there are lots of ingredients on it. Now
let me ask you, do you think coffee is also a mixture and
can you identify its ingredients?

Alright. Do you want to know more about Mixtures? Yes, Ma’am.

B. Developmental Activities

and will read the strip paper that you will pick and read it (reading the objectives)
aloud to the class. Am I understood?

(Students will start to pick strip of papers in the bowl with

stones).

But please read our objectives this morning.

So today, I will let you know more about Mixtures.

Mixture is a combination of two or more substances

(elements or compounds) mix together without
participating in a chemical change.
There are 2 Types of Mixtures:
 Homogeneous Mixture (observing)

 Heterogeneous Mixture

Now, I will show you something and please take note of
what you will observe.

and stir.

Class, what have you observe in the first glass? (water

with pebbles)

How about in the second glass?

Alright, all of your observations are true and correct.

What happened to the two glasses I demonstrated,
represents the two types of mixture.
As we can see in the first glass, the pebbles sank into
the bottom of the glass. The mixture did not completely
mixed and we can still identify the two substances which
are mixed together. And this type of mixture is what we
called “Heterogeneous Mixture.”
A heterogeneous mixture is a

From the mixtures you have observed, what is a

Activity Proper

I will group you into two (2) groups. I will distribute

these activity sheets and materials to each group.

(distributing activity sheets and materials to students)

I will spare you 7 minutes to do the activity.

Group Activity

Activity Sheet
Procedure: Make a table for the activity.
(cooperating with their groups)
1. Fill the plastic cup with water.
2. Add a teaspoon of (provided substance). Stir well.
3. Observed what happened. (write your observation
in the table)
4. Identify if it is homogeneous or heterogeneous
mixture.
5. Give other examples.

Okay, I hope that you will learn something for today’s
lesson.

Now class, again what are the two types of mixtures?

Yes, teacher!
What is homogeneous mixture?

How about heterogeneous mixture?

Who can differentiate the homogeneous mixture from the

heterogeneous mixture?

Application

Get one fourth sheet of paper and list down three

mixtures of heterogeneous and homogeneous that can
be seen in your house.

Are you all done?

Pass your papers to the front and I will the one to check
it.

Class, Do you think mixture is important in our daily life?

How can you appreciate the importance of mixtures?

How important is it to you?

How important is it at home?

IV. Evaluation
Test 1: Identification
Directions: Identify the following whether it is homogeneous mixture or heterogeneous
mixture.
1. pizza
2. cereal in milk
3. fruit salad
4. bowl of colored candies
5. Chicken noodle soup
Test 2: Differentiating (2 pts.)

1. burger 2. colored water

V. Assignment
Define the following:
1. solution
2. solute
3. solvent
