A. Preparatory Activities

a. Prayer

Before we start our class today, may I request everyone

to please! Stand.

Requesting a student to lead the prayer.

“Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for the

hundredfold blessings. Help us multiply love
and respect to others.
Divide our God given talents so that we may
become blessings to them. And subtract wrong
actions, and grudges in our hearts.
Add us with knowledge and wisdom to
understand our lessons as we walk through
despite educational challenges we may face. In
Jesus Name, Amen.

b. Greetings
Good morning Sir Junrey! Good morning
Classmates.
Alright! Good morning Class!

Before we move on to our lesson for today. Please!

What’s New

Before you proceed to the next part of this module, perform

the activity below.

Activity 2: Spot the Common ----------Students do as told --------------

Direction: Determine the common things or actions that

can be observed in the
three pictures. Write your answer on the space provided.

f. Presentation of the Lesson

Based on your answer, what would be our topic for

today’s lesson?

Great Idea!
Our topic is all about “Factoring Polynomials with
Common monomial factor ”

g. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (1 min)

At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:

a. factors completely different types of polynomials with
common monomial factor.

B. Activities

Now, We will do an activity to test if you already have

an idea about ``Factoring Polynomials with common
monomial Factor” and I will group you in two groups. And
maintain social distancing and always wear your mask.
General Instructions: In your group choose a leader and a
secretary and write the list of your members of your group
in a ¼ sheet of paper. Perform the given tasks within 3
minutes.
The teacher will handed the activity sheet.
Activity 1. Multiply me and Factor Me
Solve for the product in the first column and find the
factors in the second column.
Solve for the Product Find the factors
2 2
x ∙ x=x x =x∗x
y ∙ y =¿ ¿ 2

3x*4x=_________ 12 x 2=___________
( 3 xy )( 4 xy )=¿ _________ 2 2
12 x y =¿ ____________

C. Analysis

1. What is the product of (x)(x)?

------Teacher call a student to answer-----

Very Good!
2. What is the product of 3x and 4x?

3. What is your observation from the given activity?

What a wonderful idea!

D. Abstraction

Based on the activities that we had earlier. We will now

discuss on how to solve the “factoring polynomials with
common monomial factors”.
Polynomials
-derived from Greek words “poly” means many and
“nomials” means terms. So all together it “said many
terms”
- is defined as an expression which is composed of
variables, constants, and exponents, that are combined
using the mathematical operations such as addition and
subtraction.

Example of polynomials and its part.

Kinds of Polynomials

Monomial – a polynomial that has only one term.

Examples: 1. 3x 2. xyz 3. 5 x 3

Binomials- is a polynomial that has two terms

Examples: 1. 3x+2 2. xy+z

Trinomials- is a polynomial that has tree terms.

Example: 1. 5 x 3+3 x 2−4

Factoring Polynomials with Common Monomial Factor

ommon Monomial
Factor is the
highest possible
value of a
number, a variable,
or a combination of
numbers and
variables which is
common in
each term of a given
polynomial.
Common Monomial Factor is the highest possible value
of number, variable or a combination of numbers and
variables which is common in each term of a given
polynomials.

Formula : ax+bx+cx = x(a+b+c)

Steps in finding the Common Monomial Factors

1. Find the greatest common factor(GCF) of the coefficient.
2. Find the variable with the least exponent.
3. Combine the (GCF) with the variable with least exponent
to get the Common Monomial Factor(CMF)
4. Divide the given expression by the CMF.
5. Quotient and the CMF is the final answer or the Factor of
the given Polynomials.

Teacher will provide examples based on the given steps.

E. Application
Directions: With the same group, perform the given
activity within 10 minutes. Each group will be given a
different task. After the time you are going to perform or
discuss it in front of the class.
The teacher will handed to the group leader the different
activity.
Group Activity 2
Find the common monomial factor of the following
polynomials.
1. 12a 2+18 a

2. 10 x 2+25 x +5

3. x 4 y 3−8 x y 2+12 x 2 y
Generalization
What have you learned in today’s lesson?
------Teacher call a student to answer-------
How can we obtain the CMF?
------Teacher call a student to answer-------
Describe common monomial factor?

Very Good!

Values Integration

What does factoring polynomials with common monomial

factors tell us in our daily lives?
------Teacher call a student to answer-------
Wow! That’s Amazing

IV. Evaluation
Directions: In a 1 whole sheet of paper. Find the common
monomial factors of the given polynomials.
1. 4b 2+8 b

2. 5 c 2+ 15 c+5

3. 4 x3 y 3−8 x y 2+12 x 2 y
4. 3xy+9

V. Assignment
Directions: In your note book. Find the common monomial
factors of the given polynomials.
1. 4b 2+2 bc

2. 5 c 2+ 10 cd+ 5

3. 2 x3 y 3−4 x y 2 +12 x2 y
4. 3xy+6y
