Taylor Swift’s New Album Midnights is Causing Young

Girls Everywhere to go Crazy

Midnights is “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” and everyone has noticed!

About two weeks ago, Taylor Swift released her thirteenth album, Midnights. The album has sent
young girls (and even guys) across the world to jump back into their obsession with the artist.
Being 11 months since she released her album Red (Taylor’s Version), a rerecording of her 2012
album Red, and almost two years since she released a completely new album (Evermore,
released December of 2022), fans have forgotten just how exciting it is to have Swift release a
new album. The craze started in August of this year when Swift first announced the album and
it’s release date. “Swifties” everywhere were expressing their excitement all over social media,
tweeting, snapping, and instagramming their reactions. The “Anti-Hero” singer kept the fans
entertained with new merchandise available on her website and videos on her social media pages
announcing the track titles of the albums. Ironically naming the videos “Midnight Mayhem with
Me”, fans would eagerly wait for midnight where Swift would announce another track title. The
new-album-fever stayed, but died down on social media for a while, that is until the release date,
October 21, 2022, finally arrived. The exhilaration resurfaced and fans went crazy once again.
The social media posting resumed once again, and “swfities” began posting their reactions
everywhere. Videos of fans crying, dancing, and even screaming to the new beats of Midnights
were everywhere. Three hours after the release, at three in the morning, the “Cardigan” singer
released the deluxe version of Midnights, titled Midnights (3 AM Edition), and it included 7 more
tracks. A few hours after the deluxe release, Swift released the first music video from the album
to the albums third track “Anti-Hero”.
While fans recovered from the overload
of new content from the artist, the social
media frenzy slowly calmed, but did not
disappear. Fans began to speculate a
tour for the album, and Swift did not
disapoint. A couple of days after the
album release Swift announced “The
Era’s Tour”, a tour that would have
setlist with songs from each of her
albums. Swift had not been on tour
since 2018 when she was on the road for
her album Reputation, and her 2020 tour
for Lover was cancelled due to Covid.
The new tour dates are exciting, and
even sending some fans to extreme
measures. One fan stated her wedding
was on the day that Swift would be
attending her city for a concert, and that she was questioning postponing her wedding date. We
are all left questioning just how far is too far when it comes to attending a concert in the
upcoming tour. While we don’t know why extreme measures are taken for the artist’s concerts,
there is some science behind it. There are different components in sound that allow the human
brain to enjoy what it hears, and Swift has hit every one. So, while we can’t but our finger
directly on it, we do know that Swift has captivated the teenage mind of girls everywhere.
Midnights has set records in the few weeks it has been out for the world, and more are expected.
Whether or not the artist will continue her music career and tours after this point is foggy, but
Swift is most likely to continue. Until that is determined, we will all be satisfied with the 20
tracks of Midnights we received this year.
