• Greetings

• Classroom Management

• Checking of attendance

2. Motivation

"THREE PHASES OF MATTER"

Solid, Liquid, Gas, (2x)

Three phases of matter Solid, Liquid, Gas

A solid keeps it's shapes,

Some hard, some can break,

Like a table or roll of tape, A solid keeps it's shapes.

A liquid's shape depends

On the container that it's in

Like a cup or metal tin,

A liquid's shape depends.

A gas you cannot see

It's in the air we breathe

Helium, Oxygen, or steam,

A gas you cannot see.

B. LESSON PROPER

WHAT IS MATTER?

- Anything that has mass, takes up space and made of tiny particles

1. ACTIVITY

" 3 PHASES OF MATTER"

SOLID- A solid will always look the same and take up the same amount of space. A solid has a definite
shape, mass & volume.

LIQUID- A liquid will always take up the same amount of space and take the shape of it's container. A
liquid doesn't have definite shape, but have a definite mass, and volume

GAS- A gas doesn't always weight the same or take up the same amount of space. A gas doesn't definite
have shape, mass and volume.

4. APPLICATION

PUZZLE: Arrange the following letters to make a word.

EKOSM RAI

SKOOB NIAR

SREAT ILMK

GENERALIZATION

IV. EVALUATION

Direction: Identify the following statements .

1. Which state of matter takes the shape of it's container?

2. In which state of matter are it's particles far apart?

3. Which state of matter has a definite volume and does not lose it's shape?

4. In which state of matter are the particles packed closely together?

Which state of matter fills up all the space in a container?
