l Wide management range. The ZXSDR OMMB supports a flexible network of base
stations in multiple standards or in multiple modes or with multiple versions to
efficiently manage the network.
à The ZXSDR OMMB manages the SDR BTSs of different wireless systems (such
as CDMA/GSM/UMTS/TD-SCDMA/FDD LTE/LTE TDD), including BaseBand
Units (BBUs) and Remote Radio Units (RRUs), and manages peripherals (such
as electrically tuned antenna, tower mounted amplifier, and wave trap).
à BTSs managed by the ZXSDR OMMB can be categorized into the following
types: indoor macro BTS, outdoor macro BTS, distributed macro BTS, and
PICO BTS. The ZXSDR OMMB supports flexible networking of BTSs of multiple
systems, multi-modes, and multiple versions, and can perform effective operation
and maintenance management on the network.
l Provides subnet-level management functions for BTSs.
The management functions include configuration management, alarm monitoring,
performance data report, version management, security management, and diagnosis
maintenance.
l Designed based on the J2EE architecture, and supports distributed and
component-based deployment.
l An integrated MO model is built for the physical resources of the BTS. This
facilitates cross-product interoperations, and improves the compatibility capability
and northbound traverse capability.
l Supports dual-computer active/standby backup and remote disaster recovery backup,
which ensures high reliability, high fault tolerance, and remarkable continuity.
l Uses standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) V3/File Transfer
Protocol (FTP) northbound interface protocols, and supports integration with
third-party application systems.
l Supports Secure Shell (SSH), Transport Layer Security (TLS), Secure File Transfer
Protocol (SFTP), and IP Security Protocol (IPSec) security protection mechanism.
l Provides the authority-based and domain-based security management mechanism.

rights are provided to different operation sets. In this way, the security management
capability of a small granularity is realized.
l Function modules are optional in installation. The usage of the function modules is
restricted by licenses.
l Runs on the Windows/Linux/AIX/Solaris OS, and uses the Oracle 10g (or later) or MS
SQL Server 2005 (or later) database or sybase ASE version 15.7.
l Supports the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and command line operation modes.
l Supports the capability of managing multiple versions compatibly.
l Supports flexible networking and deployment modes.
à Supports hybrid networking of multiple forms between non-flat BTSs and flat
BTSs.
à Supports the capability of single mode to multi-mode, multi-mode to multi-mode,
multi-mode to single mode, and smoothly loading a system.
à Supports integration with the existing OMMs.
à If the EMS and OSS are available, the ZXSDR OMMB can be deployed in the
same host as the EMS or be deployed in a standalone manner. In this way,
the ZXSDR OMMB provides the NE data access, convergence, and adaptation
functions for the EMS and OSS. If the EMS and OSS are not available, the
ZXSDR OMMB can be deployed in a standalone manner. This provides the fast
deployment capability.
à For the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Time Division-Synchronization
Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), Global System for Mobile
Communication (GSM), and Universal Mobile Telecommunication System
(UMTS) NEs that have controllers, the ZXSDR OMMB can be deployed on the
X86 Single Board Computer (SBCX)/ Single Board Computer of Jasper Forest
(SBCJ) board of the Base Station Controller (BSC)/Radio Network Controller
(RNC). For flat NEs such as LTE or multi-mode applications, the ZXSDR OMMB
is usually deployed on a standalone server, or it can also be deployed on the
same host as the EMS.
l Network sharing
à Supports sharing of physical devices, such as BTSs, towers, antenna feeders,
racks, power, and transmission, by multiple telecom operators.
à Supports sharing of frequencies and frequency points by multiple telecom
operators.
à Provides different topology and management operations for the users.
l Supports interconnection with the functions of the OSS and EMS, including:
à Integrated resource models
à Alarms
à Performance
à Inventory management

à NE stability functions

Operation & Maintenance Module (OMM) user interfaces are integrated into the EMS
client.
l The service logic layer contains the majority of function units. On the service logic
layer, BTS configuration data is persistently managed through the EMS.
l The service model is built based on the Managed Object (MO) so that the OMC is
based on a solid foundation. Meanwhile, the stable and expandable model is the
prerequisite for forward and backward compatibility with the Network Element (NE)
versions.
l Access management interacts with NEs in the upstream and downstream directions.
The main functions include message queue management and task scheduling, and
concurrent processing of multiple NEs.

à Basic diagnosis
à One-key collection of fault information
l AISG equipment management
Scans and upgrades tunable antenna.
l Information collection
Collects fault information of the EMS and NEs.

OMMBs are usually deployed on the same host as the EMS server. The server uses
the IBM x3650, SUN T-4, or IBM P740 hardware platform.
In either of the two deployment modes, the presence modes are the same, meaning that
the client displays are the same. Because the OMMB clients are not displayed externally,
the OMMB clients are embedded in the EMS client.
