Wellness Medium and Your Wellness Plan

1. What medium have you chosen? Please describe and/or attach/upload visual.

I have chosen diamond dot painting as my medium.

2. What does this medium represent to you? Why? Please describe why this is meaningful.

Diamond dot painting is a medium where one fills in an image by placing sticky dots
onto the painting following set symbols or numbers. In order to know which color goes with
which symbol or number, there is typically instructions given inside the painting set. I
believe this medium represents my creativity yet also showcases how I tend to be confined
within my own mind. I am a shy person who tends to lack confidence in myself. As a result, I
do not feel as though I have the confidence or creativity to create my own painting, poem, or
art form. With diamond painting, I am able to express my love of being creative through an
already set piece of art. With this specific diamond dot painting, I feel as though it represents
me because I am trying to change who I am. Cherry blossoms are common in the spring and
represent a time of renewal. I am trying very hard to love myself more and be more confident
in my own abilities. Due to this, the cherry blossom is a representation of my future, as I
wish to grow and adapt into a more confident individual. The cherry blossom diamond dot is
unfinished. My own personal growth is unfinished. I hope to own day finish this painting so
that the cherry blossom may shine beautifully in its full completion. If that happens, maybe
one day I will also be able to shine and be free from my own mind.

3. Post your personal wellness commitment statement and plan to care for YOU below. Be
specific.

For the future, I plan to set aside time to finish this cherry blossom diamond dot painting.
Once this painting is completed, I plan to put it on the wall in the living room. By doing this,
I will come out of my room and see it everyday on the wall before I leave for the day. This
will allow me to remind myself that I completed this painting. The cherry blossom shines
brightly. I need to shine brightly and be kinder to myself. Beyond this, I plan to continue my
therapy sessions and deep breathing exercises as they help me center myself and feel calmer.
Finally, I would like to journal more as it allows me to compose my thoughts and get them
out of my head and into the world surrounding me. By having the painting as a reminder,
attending therapy, doing mediation, and journaling, I believe that I will be able to be more
mindful of my thoughts, which will aid my ability to lessen my self-deprecating mindset. If I
am able to mitigate this aspect of my mind, I will be able to grow my confidence and be more
positive within my life.
