Separation
• Separation, the removal of children from the
caregiver(s) to whom they are attached, has both
positive and negative aspects.
• Separation also temporarily frees parents from the
burden of child-rearing, allowing them to focus on
making the changes necessary for the child to
return home.

2.1 Socialization
• socialization is a key process to our development as
people.
• Socialization is the process that allows us to learn and
internalize the norms of society, acquire the ability to
develop ourselves socially, and build an identity through
interaction with others.
2.1 Socialization
The process of socialization is divided into two
main stages
1. Primary socialization.
• individual’s first contact with their environment and the people within it.
• children acquire the most basic skills, mainly through practice and imitation of what they see and are
taught.
• essentially an informal process in which the primary agent of socialization is family. The child will learn
values from and build their first bond with family.
• During this stage, nurseries or kindergartens and the media are also important agents of socialization

2. Secondary socialization
• It’s a more formal learning process in which the person acquires more complex and abstract skills.
• Schools and other institutions are its main agents.
• During this process, child discovers new worlds beyond their family and begins to understand
hierarchies.

• Around age two: Children become conscious


of the physical differences between boys and
girls.
• Before their third birthday: Most children
can easily label themselves as either a boy or a
girl.
• By age four: Most children have a stable sense
of their gender identity
