MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE AND CULTURE

The underlying beliefs, assumptions, values, and methods of interacting that contribute to an organization's
distinct social and psychological environment are referred to as organizational culture. Organizational culture
encompasses an organization's expectations, experiences, philosophy, and values that govern member conduct, and
it manifests itself in member self-image, inner workings, interactions with the outside world, and future
expectations. Culture is made up of common values, beliefs, rituals, and written and unwritten regulations that have
evolved over time and are accepted as valid (The Business Dictionary). The organization's vision, values,
conventions, processes, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits are all part of its culture (Needle,
2004).

Teamwork

The management and its style of handling the employees also affect the culture of the workplace. There are
certain organizations where the management allows the employees to take their own decisions and let them
participate in strategy making. In such a culture, employees get attached to their management and look forward to
a long term association with the organization. A good teamwork culture can be defined as an environment
characterized by a shared view that the organization can move forward most successfully when collaboration and
cooperation are at the forefront of thinking, planning, and decision-making.

A shared conviction in collaboration and cooperation, which a culture of teamwork may assist to promote,
gives your organization a cohesive emphasis as well as a cohesive approach to how work is done. Every individual,
team, and department understands that they will be expected to collaborate to complete tasks and meet objectives.
Building a culture like this demands establishing a mechanism that showcases and honors individual and group
contributions and achievement. It necessitates establishing a clear awareness of the repercussions and ensuring that
people accept responsibility for team accomplishments. Individual and team performance must be recognized and
rewarded.

Decision Making

People's decision-making is heavily influenced by culture. Culture has an impact on not only how individuals
act, but also how they think, generate opinions about others and the world, and, most crucially, how they assess
and choose among various options. This knowledge is extremely useful for people and organizations with cross-
border dealings.
In a global setting, culture plays a significant role in decision-making. Before making a decision, an
individual should get educated about the traditions, values, and beliefs that are prevalent in a culture, as well as
appreciate the perspectives of others.

Collaboration

In a study of multicultural teams, researchers discovered that team members with good cultural
metacognition were more likely to indicate that their teams engaged in "fusion" cooperation, implying good
intercultural creative collaboration. If teams participate in team building activities, they will be able to collaborate
more effectively. Team building exercises will improve communication, encourage employees, promote productivity,
and help employees get to know each other better, all of which will have a beneficial impact on office culture.

Your company's culture influences everything from punctuality and tone to contract terms and employee
benefits. Employees are more likely to feel comfortable, supported, and valued when the workplace culture is
aligned with their needs.
