Topic: The Fear of Public

Speaking

We had a fear of public speaking which is one of the most

common fear among the peoples in the world but we can
overcome it by some preparation techniques: -

Understanding your topic: Glossophobia, or a fear of public

speaking, is a very common phobia and one that is believed to affect
up to 75% of the population. Some individuals may feel a slight
nervousness at the very thought of public speaking, while others
experience full-on panic and fear. They may try to avoid public
speaking situations at all cost or if they try to speak in public, they
endure shaking hands and a weak quavering voice.

Practice: Practice speaking in public without quivering voice until you

are comfortable to do the same. If possible do practice in front of
some people and ask them for feedback of your performance

Be calm: Try to be calm during the presentation. You can do some

deep breathing just before presentation which might be very helpful
to remain calm.

Question - Elaborate your any personal experience

about any kind of fear that haunted you yet and how did
you overcome it?

Answer:
The word fear brings the image of a person with widely-
opened eyes, an open mouth, goosebumps, and fast
heartbeats in our mind. It is human nature to be scared of
several things or activities in this world. We all have scared
of something in our life and thus try to avoid seeing or
experiencing the same as it inculcates fear in us.

For as long as I can remember, public speaking has always

been one of my greatest fear. Speaking in front of people
was a challenge for me for many years. It made me feel
nervous and sometimes i stuck in that situation.

I can still clearly remember that day when I had to give the
speech on 15 August when I was younger. I had practised
everything very well but as soon as I reached up on the
stage and saw the people staring at me, my body begins to
shake and my heart begins to beat faster. I become so
much nervous that I messed it up and all my practice ends in
vain.

Whether it’s a simple in-class presentation or a speech in

front of an auditorium filled with people, I can barely get
my words out from the anxiety and stress. So, I tried to
stay out from giving any kind of speech. I’ve always admired
those who seem to be able to just flow through their
speeches without as much as a hint of nerves.

But after few years I decided that I'll not let this fear be
an interruption in my life. I started practicing my speech in
front of mirror and with my friends. I watched a lot of
videos about overcoming this fear. Then, I started giving
presentation in classes and slowly I found that I'm getting
balance between my confidence and fear. Slowly I realised
that this anxiety is obvious to everyone. So, without being
afraid I keep on practising and giving presentations. And
soon I become more confident than being afraid. It was a
very big achievement for me and now I am able to speak
without any hesitation or being nervous.

I hope everyone will overcome their fear because only thing

we have to fear is fear itself
