Narrator:- Good morning to one and all present
here. We are group 1, here to present a skit on
one of the most sensitive yet ignored social issues
- prejudice against mental health issues. There are
obviously various kinds of mental health issues but
today we will be focusing on one major topic in
particular- Depression and suicidal thoughts.
[Character introduction]

Scene 1:
(At their home one night)
Setting:- Dining table (the boy is doing his hw, the
mother is serving the dish.)
Tristan:- (comes home drunk)
Olivia:- Right on time! The dinner is ready. (while
serving)
Tristan:- (looks at the food) no spice, no salt, what
is this cr*p?!
Olivia:- but-but you didn’t even taste it yet.
Tristan:- How dare you talk back to me?!
Olivia:- but uh-
Tristan:- (takes harry's book and throws it at Olivia)
Narrator:- Now this is a daily occurrence in their
household. Tristan is an absolute alcoholic that
forgets common knowledge when drunk. But there
is only so much harm a person could do right? or
so we thought but his final deed before going six
feet under was ramming his truck into another
truck taking 2 more people with him.

Scene 2:
[At the funeral, people are paying respect to the
dead]
Shamhitha: The movement they moved into this
house. I knew they had bad luck following them
what a pitiful family.
Aunty: I know right? They say bad habits like such
are hereditary who knows what the son's gonna
grow up into.
Shamhitha: For real-
Narrator: And just like that, time passed with more
people judging now Widow as well as her only son.
Scene 3:
[few weeks later]
(Harry walks into the class. Everyone is judging
him).
Jude: Ayy whatsup man. Heard your dad hit the
bucket. (Harry stays silent )
Jude: Oh my bad- did he hit a truck and kill 2
people perhaps?
(Harry glares)
(teacher walks in)
Teacher:- All grandpa's and grandma's please
Stand up. Here, what are you doing. Hello what is
going on there?
(Student tries to ask something but gets roasted by
her)
Teacher: ok now I’m going to distribute the test
papers.
Teacher: [Distributing papers] Harry …
Harry:- (walks towards her)
Teacher:- Your performance is going down.You
scored so less this time. I don’t know the reason
but I hope I don't see such kind of performances
from you again.
Harry:- (nods head)
[after class]
Jude:-Damn boy you drunk too or what- where did
your marks go?
Harry:- can you please stop. This is really
frustrating enough already.
Sidekick:-who do you think you are huh to talk
back to –
Jude: (pats his shoulder and moves him back)How
dare you talk back to me?(beat him up)
Scene 4:
[Later that day]
Mariana:- hey babe what’s up
Harry: Hey….(Sunitha) I really don’t know what's
happening. Everything happened so fast. I don’t
know what to focus on this time.
Mariana:- uh-wait what?
Harry:- Hah..dad is just I uhh…he caused me and
my mother trouble when he was alive and even
after his death he is still the same.
Mariana:-uhhh about that – I was actually here to
tell you something else . uhm I don’t think this is
working out. Let's break up.
Harry:- wait??
Mariana:- byee(leaves)
Narrator:- Harry was at his lowest point in his
life.The only people he thought would care and
support him ended up leaving him. No one even
tried to understand him. He felt like he had lost all
hope, severe feeling of sadness and loss of
interest in activities.
Bottling up all this negativity inside him even made
him suicidal.
Scene 5:
[Later that day]
Harry:-[at the top of the building almost about to
jump]
Lily:-[walks in] Oh my god. Harry…What do u think
ur doing Harry?! I’m gonna need you to get off the
ledge right now Harry.
Harry:- no…- there is no point in living.
Lily: Listen, whatever it is we can talk it out. You
don’t deserve to die like this. We can figure it out
together. Please just get down.
Harry:- I- I…have made up my mind.
Lily:- get down mannn(pull on his legs and forces
him to get down)
Lily:- I thought we were friends. You know you can
tell me anything right? I am always here for you.
Please don’t die on me. Feel free to tell me what
happened.
Harry:- I was scared. I’m confused. I really can’t
take this anymore. These feelings are so
overwhelming. I could’nt see past the pain. I really
want it to stop. That’s why i…
(Time lapse)
Lily:- I’m so glad you’re telling me about how much
has been going on,and how you’re feeling.Thank
you for sharing this with me.The fact that you’re
having these thoughts tells me something
significant is going on for you right now. The good
news is ,help is out there.I want to help you get
connected to resources that can help.”
Scene 6:
[At home few weeks later]
Olivia:- Harry come have dinner.
Harry:- heyy mom
Olivia:- yeah?
Harry:-I’m…I’m really sorry . you were going
through so much ever since he died. The people
were judging you, discouraging you and really just
taking away your will to live, weren’t they?
Harry: Even I was being so self centered about my
own struggles, not even trying to help you out. I
am so sorry mom.
Olivia:- (touched) Harry..ever since your dad died I
was falling apart. Yeah, You was right. I was totally
fed up of everything but you are my only hope. You
are the only reason I didn’t give up on living. Thank
you Harry for trying to hear me out. I am so proud
of what you have grown up into.
Harry: yes mom thank you for taking care of me so
far. Now its my turn. I want to support you. I’ll be
here if u talk more later [wholesome bgm]
[End of drama]
Narrator:-
● Depression is a constant felling of sadness
and loss of interest,which stops you doing your
normal activities.
 ● Different types of depression exist,with
symptoms ranging from relatively minor to
severe.

● Generally, depersion does not result from a

single even,but from a mix of events and
factors.
