Manila Half-Day Tour with Hotel Pick-Up

Places to visit are the following:

 Nielson Tower – This is where the country’s first airport was built. It is now a home to various
restaurants serving cuisines from different parts of the world.
 Forbes Park – This is where many of the country’s wealthiest families reside.
 American Cemetery and Memorial – This cemetery houses the most number of graves of
American soldiers from World War II. It also offers a view of Laguna de Bay.
 Roxas Boulevard and Rizal Park – This park was renamed in honor of the country’s national hero,
Dr. Jose Rizal. It is one of the most frequented tourist attractions in Manila.
 The Walled City of Intramuros and San Agustin Church – This is where church ruins, ancient
walls, and surviving artifacts during the Spanish regime can be found. San Agustin Church is also
a UNESCO World Heritage site.
 Fort Santiago – This used to be a Spanish fortress during the Spanish regime.

Built in 1937, Nielson Tower served as the


Nielson Tower 9:00 to 9:30 AM control tower and passenger depot of the
Philippines’ first commercial airport. The
first ever domestic flight in Asia took place
here. It was from Makati to Baguio. In
World War II, Nielson Tower, sadly, was
used by Japanese forces as headquarters,
and then later was taken over by the
Americans.
The Nielson Tower found use over the
years as a police station, an office of an
Ayala-owned company, and a restaurant.
Then in 1996, it served as the home of the
Filipinas Heritage Library of the Ayala
Foundation. The library eventually
transferred in 2013 to its current home at
the Ayala Museum. Nielson Tower
reopened a year later as The Blackbird at
Nielson Tower, where you can enjoy fine
dining restaurant and held events in its
venue. Blackbird at the Nielson Tower is
open every day and open for dine in and
take-away from 11:00 A.M to 10:00 P.M.
They offer facilities such as the grill room,
the cabin, garden and terrace, and lounge
and bar while enjoying their contemporary
Asian cooking.

Forbes Park 9:40 to 10:10 AM after a millionaire and one-time governor
general of the Philippines, William
Cameron Forbes, Forbes is a residential
community where most of the richest
Filipinos live. It is home to Filipino business
moguls and prominent celebrities. Resting
between the Makati Central Business
District and BGC – Bonifacio Global City, it
is accessible via main thoroughfares
making traveling stress-free.
Forbes is an elite private village with
residents who are naturally laid-back.
Trees, some are over half a century old,
highlight the tranquility enveloping the
entire district. Its streets are so quiet and
secure it promises a life of privacy and
comfort. The Manila Polo Club and the
Manila Golf and Country Club are two of
the exclusive go-to hangouts of residents
who are into polo and golf and want to
unwind.

American Cemetery and The American Cemetery and Memorial in


Memorial 10:20 to 10:50 AM has the greatest number of World War II
graves. They remembered the allied
servicemen and Americans who fought and
died against Japanese forces during WWII.
It is a haven of unity and commemoration.
The cemetery contains the remains of
17,184 World War II army personnel. It
serves as a burial ground for those who
died in the Pacific War, which includes New
Guinea and the Pacific Islands. Every day at
9 a.m., the cemetery is accessible to the
public. to 5 p.m. except on December 25th
and January 1st.
You can also go to the mosaic-decorated
chapel, which is prominently located on
the premises. A tour to this location is
generally peaceful and inspiring, and it
informs us of the difficulties that a military
imposes on a sovereign country. The sites
are immaculately preserved, and the entire
setting exudes a prideful atmosphere.

Roxas Boulevard and Rizal This originally called Cavite Boulevard, it

Did you know that the old name of Rizal
park are Luneta,Formerly called “Luneta”
from the French word Lunette which
means a cresent-shaped fort, it was the
site of “La Calzada”, the social hub of
Manila's elite. It was also used by the
Spaniards as an execution ground for
rebels and activist. Dr. Jose Rizal was
executed in Rizal Park on December 30,
1896. It is located at Manila. Rizal Park, also
known as Luneta Park, is an iconic park
with a rich history, as it is where the
country's National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, was
executed. During the Spanish occupation of
the Philippines, the park was also known as
Bagumbayan.

Going to next destination 11:30 to 11:40 AM

The Walled City of It is a Roman Catholic church under the


Intramuros and San Agustin 11:40 to 12:10 AM auspices of The Order of St. Augustine,
Church located inside the historic walled city of
Intramuros in Manila. Completed in 1607,
the San Agustin Church is considered the
oldest stone church in the Philippines. The
church has endured numerous catastrophic
events including fire, earthquakes, and
heavy bombings brought by Word War II.
The Philippine government in 1976 named
San Agustin Church as a National Historical
Landmark. It was cited as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1993, joining three other
Spanish-era churches, in the category
Baroque Churches of the Philippines.
You can also go to the Plaza de Roma,
which is a plaza located in front of the San
Agustin Church. It was built by the Spanish
in 1599 and is named after Rome, the
capital of Italy. The plaza is a beautiful and
peaceful place to relax and take in the
beauty of Intramuros. It’s also a pleasant
place to meet up with friends or just
people-watch (Filipinos are known to do
this a lot).
They can eat in the landmark Barbara's
Rest/Eat 12:10 to 1:00 PM Heritage Restaurant is one of Intramuros's
most well-known traditional eateries. The
restaurant is prominently marked in red
and is situated in the center of the Plaza
San Luis Complex, directly across from the
old San Agustin Church.
Barbara's Heritage Restaurant, which
opened in the 1970s, has a delectable
menu that demonstrates its expertise of
Spanish and Filipino fusion food.
