ADDRESSING THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AT HOME ACOLLECTIVE CASE STUDY OF VISUAL IMPAIRED

STUDENT IN DISTANCE EDUCATION

ABSTRACT

This paper presents the problems and intervention done for students with visual impairment and
distance learning settings. The main thrust of this qualitative collected case study was to determine how
high school students with special needs continue their education at home through distance learning
setting with the assistance of their teachers and parents. This study utilized the collected cases study
approach in order to investigate the individual experience of the participants cases. Through
Observation and semi-structured questionnaires with open-ended option, the study was able to
determine the participants cases descriptive background, and the common and distinct problems they
have encountered in distance learning. Moreover, It determined the intervention done by both parents
and teachers in order to mitigate the problems that have been encountered by studying with special
education student were unfit mode of instructions in a appropriate teaching learning activities, absence
of immediate social group time constraint and lack of student teacher communication among other.
With the results of the study, the researchers suggest administrators and teachers to train teachers to
handle different types of disabilities, provide appropriate learning modules for students with visual
impairment, do home visitation to see the actual situation of the child and access the child problems
and needs during the distance education.
