PROJECT DESCRIPTION

INTRODUCTION

Due to its location in Southeast Asia, the Philippines appears to be a magnet

for natural disasters. Typhoons, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides,
and fires are some of the most frequent natural calamities that affect our nation.

The Municipality of Tagkawayan is a coastal municipality in the province

of Quezon that is why many out 45 barangays may get affected from the
effects of climate change and disasters.

Our administration has made coordinating resources and responding to major

crises its top priority. And the standard procedure has been to put hundreds or
thousands of people up in temporary, improvised shelters. They frequently reside in
enclosed courts and schools or much worse, in tents.

Thus, the construction of an evacuation center will help the municipality in

minimizing the risk and ensuring the safety of the citizens in Tagkawayan especially
in times of calamities or disasters.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Goal: To ensure the safety of People in Tagkawayan especially in ti mes

of calami ty or disaster.
Objectives:

 To provide a permanen t and safe evacuation center

during emergencies and disasters.
 To ensure that temporary refuge for individuals and fami lies
poten ti ally at risk or in actual danger is immediately
provided.
 To ensure that opportunities for recovery, rehabili tation and
developmen tal tasks as post response activities are
 undertaken.

LOCATION
The proposed mul ti -purpose evacuation hall will be constructed in
Brgy. Munting Parang which is part of the Tagkawayan Resiliency Complex
approximately 3.4m from Poblacion. The elevation at these coordinates is
estimated at 94.1 meters or 308.7 feet above mean sea level.

TARGET BENEFECIARIES

The proposed project is designed for its pri mary purpose to serve
as temporary dwelling for evacuees in times of disaster and calamity. This
project will directly benefit families who are living in critical areas in
barangays along bodies of water subject to its structural limitation since
the proposed evacuation cen ter is estimated to accommodate 20-30
families only.

This will be a collaborative project with the M uni ci pal i t y of

Tagkawayan, Municipal Disaster Risk Red uction and Management
Council and Department of Interior and Local Government under
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation(PAGCOR) Fund.
