Integration Goal #1:

Find and use a tech tool/app capable of creating a multimedia presentation that will engage,
educate, and interact with classmates.

Assignment Name/Title/Description​ (one paragraph)​:

The ​Curriculum Overview Assignment​ in my ED3501 ​Introduction to Curriculum and Instruction

course is due on Thursday, October 1st, via FlipGrid. The assignment combines the use of
textual, visual, and verbal information to create a multimedia presentation that introduces
classmates to a variety of program of studies. Working in either a small group or duo, partners
will select a platform capable of utilizing the various forms of communication, as well as a tech
tool/app that will further assist in communicating with and teaching classmates. I am unfamiliar
with most forms of technology, thus creating an engaging and interactive multimedia
presentation is new territory for me. This goal symbolizes a new experience and opportunity to
learn for me.

Tech Tool/App Description and Rationale​ (one paragraph):

The tech tool/app that I have selected to use in order to improve the quality of my Curriculum
Overview Assignment in C&I is FlipGrid (​https://info.flipgrid.com/​). FlipGrid provides users with a
platform in which they are able to share videos with each other, using various media such as
audio and visual. While the main purpose of this tech tool/app is to allow educators to create a
video on a topic of any kind and give their students an opportunity to respond back with their
own video, FlipGrid can also be used to create videos that have multimedia aspects to them.
FlipGrid allows its users to either create a video right on the site or upload a clip that the user
already has on their computer. It also allows its users to record their screen while
simultaneously allowing them to record a voiceover as they share their screen. FlipGrid also has
a variety of effects that can be used on the videos, as well as the ability to edit the videos
created or start over entirely if the user is not impressed with what they have created. Whilst my
group used Google Slides to construct our powerpoint, we will be able to use FlipGrid to convert
our presentation into a video as well as add an audio on top of the recording. This allows us to
not only have a written aspect to our presentation, but also an audio one as well, which gives
our presentation a more complex, layered feeling to it. For these reasons, FlipGrid can be used
as an alternative platform to not only post the presentations for the Curriculum Overview
Assignment, but also create and record the presentations as well.
