PROPOSALS TO SUPPLY COAL FOR THE SEASON 2022-2023 FOR LAKVIJAYA


COAL FIRED POWER PLANT IN PUTTALAM, SRI LANKA

Ministry of Power and Energy, Democratic Socialist republic of Sri Lanka wishes to receive proposals
from prospective coal suppliers for supply of coal for the 900MW Lakvijaya Coal Fired Power Plant
Norochcholai in Sri Lanka based on the direction given by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Interested coal suppliers are free to submit their proposals for the supply of an estimated quantity of
720,000 ±10% MT of coal with the quality of 6150 kcal per kg on a credit basis as specified in website
www.lankacoal.lk of Lanka Coal Company. The delivery period of the above quantity of coal to
Puttalam Anchorage shall be from January 2023 of End of April 2023. Therefore, suppliers are
allowed to submit their proposals to supply coal on a credit basis / deferred payment mechanism / or
any other payment terms instead of requesting to provide either Sovereign and Treasury guaranties
or confirmed or any form of letter of credit issued by the international commercial bank. Sealed
proposals must be delivered to the address given below or password protected proposals shall be
emailed to secretary@powermin.gov.lk on or before 16:00 hrs (Sri Lanka Standard Time) on 01st
December 2022.
