Media and Information Literacy

Topic: Activity No.

Directions: Write your brief answers on the space provided.

1. In your opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information?

- For me, it's when someone can consume news and information while remaining at least somewhat objective and removing themselves from the bias and sensationalism of any
particular media outlet. It's also when someone understands the value of hearing all sides of a story and is able to use the information provided to them to create their own ideas
based on what they have learned. Basically, a reader who understands what they are reading, retains it, and has the skills to assess it. Generalizations wouldn't answer your query
because there are numerous different media types. Knowing what something says is a good place to start. It would require years of reading before you could comprehend it and have
benchmarks to compare it to the best in the industry. Along with time, standards evolve.

2. What activities/habits do you practice which illustrate media and information literacy? Give at least three examples.

1.Understand the Background

- No newsworthy occurrence takes place in a vacuum. Recognize the causes.

2.Multi-Source
- Everyone has a plan, and it depends on who and what they are, according to multiple sources. Statements should be considered rather than counted.

3.Fact-Check
- Never take a media outlet's honesty at face value. Consider all media figures actors; persons who are paid to speak on behalf of others.
