Synopsis
The grand old party, which has remained out of power in the state for more than two
decades, also promised waiver of farm loans of up to Rs 3 lakh, free education from KG
to PG (kindergarten to post-graduation) and constitution of a committee to determine
MSP (minimum support price) for each and every crop.

The grand old party's manifesto was released by Rajasthan Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot on Saturday. The Rajasthan CM is also the party's senior
observer for Gujarat polls.

"The Congress had sought opinion of hundreds of people in the state to

prepare the manifesto," Gehlot said.

"As suggested by party leader Rahul Gandhi, we will form a commission for
the implementation of our manifesto and turn it into a government document

A total of 151, or 83%, of the 182 MLAs elected in the recent Assembly polls in Gujarat are
'crorepatis' (worth over '1 crore), up from 141 in the 2017 polls, as per a study conducted
by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Gujarat Election Watch.

The average assets per winning candidate now is '16.41 cr, almost two times
the �gure for 2017, which was '8.46 cr. The richest legislators are BJP's Mansa
MLA JS Patel ( '661 cr), Siddhpur MLA Balvantsinh Rajput ( '372 cr), also of BJP,
and BJP's Rajkot South MLA Ramesh Tilala ( '175 cr), the study showed.

The study by ADR, which works for electoral reforms and prepares such
reports after analysing the self-sworn a�idavits of legislators, stated that 74
MLAs were re-elected and their assets had grown by an average of '2.61 cr,
which is a rise of 40% when compared to 2017.
