Infinite Possibilities

Possibilities. According to Merriam Dictionary, it is the condition or

fact of being possible. It is one’s utmost power, capacity, or ability.

Indeed, this young, promising, and hopeful Head Teacher III, Mr. Willie
B. Guzman held on these possibilities and potentials of Buenavista
Integrated School in San Fernando, Masbate. It wheeled them towards their
achievement of being the Brigada Eskwela Best Implementing School
(Medium Category) in the National Level. Definitely adding their name to the
list of epitomes of excellence in the entire Schools Division of Masbate
Province.

Spotting Potentials

“I decided to join the search because I have seen so much potential for
the school to win a spot in the national level considering the number of
partners and the results of the partnership agreement with a term of 3
years.” These were Sir Willie Guzman’s exact words during an interview.

He knew that teachers can never do it all alone. For a school to

function and serve its purpose, the school needs the assistance of various
stakeholders. He did definitely distinguish who to pursue that can aid them
in reaching their goal line.

Establishing Linkages

For Sir Willie, time is of the essence. The dedicated school leader did
not waste any time and made sure to immediately tie with these linkages.
He knew that collaboration would create an enormous impact in their
endeavor. They reached beyond the needed documents and extended their
arms to build meaningful alliance to different stakeholders such us General
Parent-Teacher Association, 4Ps, Alpha Kapa Rho, Philippine National
Police, Philipppine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, LGU Section Heads, Bb.
Pilipinas International Hannah Arnold, Palawan Pawnshop, Department of
Public Works and Highways, 9 barangays, business establishments, and
some private individuals.

“One of the highlights of our preparation is the spirit of collaboration and

bayanihan with the different stakeholders despite the situation that we were
facing,” said Mr. Guzman.

Just like any other journey, Buenavista IS has been hindered by

obstacles too. For them, it was limited mobility. It made them pause for a
while and almost decided to settle for less due to the limited actions that
they could only take because of barriers brought about by pandemic.
However, it was through these linkages that aided them to go through all
those obstacles and came out triumphant.

Grabbing Opportunities

Best School Implementer for he knew that with all the potentials he saw
and the linkages the school have established, the school has a great chance
to win.

“I knew we’re going to make it!” said Sir Willie with all modesty as he
was very positive that the result will be in their favor after the presentation
due to the evident gestures and positive feedbacks of the validators.

They did it. Php 1, 167, 712 - the exact generated amount that led
them to the top. The amount that all of them yielded despite being stuck
with CoViD-19. The amount that opened their doors to everyone and
showed their capacity to perform with excellence. The amount that
furnished them with new prospects. Behind this amount are perseverance,
teamwork, and good leadership skills – the perfect blend and a definite
direction towards success.

Infinite Possibilities

According to Sir Guzman, upon winning at the national level, more

education partners and even private individuals came to extend their help
and assistance to the school to better deliver basic quality education amid
crisis. They have come up with several recovery programs to address
learning losses. One of which is the establishment of Community Learning
Spaces in all five barangays which have been funded by the barangay
themselves.

Despite the fears and uncertainties that pandemic has brought us,
Buenavista IS knew that possibilities are numerous if they started to act.
They have already started it, they actually achieved their goal, and
certainly, they will keep on moving forward while chasing infinite
possibilities as they are living with the mantra, “We bring people together to
fulfill our mandate and leave a meaningful trace for today’s and the next
generations.”
