1.

Select and describe literary criticism through pictures; at least 2-3 then explain
thoroughly why you associate/ compare those images to the ideals and principles
of the week’s topic.

I may compare the literary criticism into these three images: abstract painting, the
judge and the students who are reading. First in abstract painting, it is an art that is
complex and difficult to understand literally. We should deepen our understanding in
order to understand its meaning just like a literary criticism, it is difficult to understand
without analyzing, interpreting and evaluating a piece in literature. In other words, we
should be critical thinkers. Second, the judge should weigh his judgment based on the
evidence or proofs shown, the same in literary criticism, we should show our judgment
and scrutinize the works based on the evidence. However, we don’t need the experts to
judge the works, it should be ourselves. Last students who are reading, of course in
education literary criticism is very important towards the students in able them to
understand the essence of literature and appreciate its importance. Reading is the key in
developing their critical thinking and their imagination as well as to boost confidence to
argue their viewpoints. Therefore, literary criticism is an important piece of a puzzle to
complete the meaning of literature.

2. Summarize this week’s topic in a (1) paragraph. Be detailed and direct yet I only
need a summary.

Literary criticism attains to analyze, scrutinize, interpret and evaluate the works using
methods in able to understand the literary piece. It deals with writers based on their ideas
and imagination at the particular cultural ambience. It conducts closed reading which
influences in digesting and dissecting information by applying our own perspective and
experience while processing that of the authors. It enhances the reading skills,
confidence, expands imaginative ideas and exercises judgment of works in literature.
Therefore, it is very helpful to develop critical thinking especially for the students in
academic circles.
