ACTIVITY NO 2

1. In your own words, define the following: Globalization, Anti-globalization

Globalization means the speedup of movements and exchanges (of human beings, goods, and
services, capital, technologies or cultural practices) all over the planet. One of the effects of
globalization is that it promotes and increases interactions between different regions and
populations around the globe.
Anti- globalization, social movement that emerged at the turn of the 21st century against
neoliberal globalization, a model of globalization based on the promotion of unfettered
markets and free trade.

2. What is the difference between Globalization and Globalism?

The main difference between globalism and globalization is that globalism is an ideology
based on the belief that people, information, and goods should be able to cross national
borders unrestricted, while globalization is the spread of technology, products, information,
and jobs across nations.

3. What is Free trade?

Free trade, also called laissez-faire, a policy by which a government does not discriminate
against imports or interfere with exports by applying tariffs (to imports) or subsidies (to
exports).

4. What is tariff?
A tariff is a tax imposed by a government on goods and services imported from other
countries that serves to increase the price and make imports less desirable, or at least less
competitive, versus domestic goods and services. Tariffs are generally introduced as a means
of restricting trade from particular countries or reducing the importation of specific types of
goods and services.
