ROD . Install the new rod wiper, O-rings and back-up

. If the piston seals are to be replaced, disas-
semble the cylinder by removing the gland. Re-
move the piston by inserting a rod through the
port hole in the bottom of the cylinder and push
piston out. Remove the old piston seals. Thor-
oughly clean the seal groove and carefully slide
new seal into groove in the piston.
. Lubricate the outer surface of the piston and
seal with system hydraulic oil. Carefully insert
the piston into the cylinder to prevent scuffing.
. Slide piston into place and assemble gland as
in Step 5.
LOCK POST ASSEMBLY
4-1/4 FT. AND 5-1/2 FT. CRUSHERS
1. Remove the lock post assembly as described
earlier in this section under ASSEMBLY OF
HYDRAULIC LOCK POSTS, 4-1/4 FT. AND 5-
1/2 FT. CRUSHERS.
. Thread the gland out of the cylinder and
move from bolt assembly. The rod wiper,
rings and back-up washers can now be re-
placed without further disassembly. See the
illustration LOCK POST ASSEMBLY, 4-1/4 FT.
AND 5-1/2 FT. CRUSHERS.
. Remove the old rod wiper from the internal
groove. Then remove the O-rings and
washers from the other internal and external
grooves in the gland. Thoroughly clean the sur-
faces of the gland and piston rod.

. Lubricate the gland and rod surface with the
system hydraulic oil and position the gland
over the bolt assembly. Then thread gland into
cylinder.
. If the piston seals are to be replaced, disas-
semble the cylinder by removing the gland and
cover. Then remove the bolt assembly, which
includes the piston, disc springs, and spring
washer. Remove the old piston O-rings and
back-up washers. Thoroughly clean the grooves
and carefully slide new O-rings and back-up
washers into the grooves in the piston.
. It is very important that the disc springs be re-
assembled exactly. See illustration for proper
order of stacking the disc springs.
. Lubricate all the surfaces with the system hy-
draulic oil. Carefully insert the rod assembly into
the cylinder to prevent scuffing of the O-rings.
9. Reassemble the gland as in Step 5.
7 FT. CRUSHERS
1. Remove the lock post assembly as described
earlier in this section under ASSEMBLY OF HY-
DRAULIC LOCK POSTS, 7 FT. CRUSHER.
. Remove the retaining ring and cover from the
assembly. Slide the bolt, disc springs, piston rod
and piston out of the cylinder. See the illustra-
tion LOCK POST ASSEMBLY, 7 FT. CRUSHER.
. Remove the seal, retaining ring and sleeve
from the cylinder. Thoroughly clean all ports.
. Install a new O-ring, rod seal and lubricate the
sleeve with system hydraulic oil. Install the sleeve
and retaining ring.
. Install a new rod seal and piston seal. Assem-
ble the piston onto the piston rod, disc springs
and bolt.
re- . It is very important that the disc springs be

. Lubricate all the surfaces with the system hy-
draulic oil. Carefully insert the rod assembly
into the cylinder to prevent scuffing of the new
seals.

8. Install a new seal in the rod end of the cylinder.
9. Install a new O-ring on cover and install cover
with retaining ring.
