Memo: SMS Community

From: Marilou Palabrica-Costello, PhD, School President

We would like to bring to your attention some important updates to the Dress Code
Policy as stipulated in the St. Mary’s High School Student Handbook. This effort is
ongoing, in order to streamline our policies for future accreditations.
The following revisions have been added to our St. Mary’s High School Student
Handbook:
“St. Mary’s recognizes that one’s presentation of self is an expression of personal style
and individuality. However, students must dress in a manner that respects the
atmosphere of learning in the school. The purpose of our dress code is to reflect
respect for the discipline and seriousness of purpose we associate with our school as
an academic institution. All students and members of the St. Mary’s community are
expected to look presentable and professional at all times, while keeping in mind our
school’s core values: Faith in God, Academic Excellence, Personal wholeness and
Societal transformation.
On Hair and Grooming:
Students must observe, at all times, simplicity, neatness and appropriate grooming.
Hair must be neatly groomed and kept away from the face at all times. Personal
hygiene standards must be observed and maintained. Nails should be clean and well-
trimmed.”

Thank you for your attention.
