day.

judge and a jury (a jury in the USA, not Sweden), then you are
told if you are guilty or not guilty (and given a sentence by a
judge not the jury, if guilty)

mood. After the fight, the whole school was in a bad mood.

unsettling when things around you are worrisome. It’s a little unsettling to
hear that our school has some problems.

official something which is out in the open, everyone knows of it. It has
been said that the kids in room 203 with Gruell as a teacher are
of no use.

to be written off no one believes in you, no one will do anything to help you,
they have given up on you. The kids were written off as
hopeless

juvenile hall prison for teenagers and children.

Probation officer when you are let out of jail or juvenile hall you get a person
who is checking up on you. If you do a the slightest thing
wrong, you are sent back to jail

alienation alien as in someone different, if you feel alienation you are not
let into the group of other people, like the kids in the movie
don’t feel like the school is letting them into the system

label a note you put on something, like if you put a note on a jar of
jam ‘raspberry jam’ (hallonsylt), then you have labeled it

education system the school system (education=utbildning)

racial has to do with race (which really doesn’t exist, all humans are
one race, right?)

hostility when you feel that someone looks at you with hostility they
look at you as the enemy - someone bad

unteachable can’t learn anything, teachers can’t teach these people

life You can also have similarities if you look alike.

if you are being judge it might be that people don’t like your
clothes or that they are afraid of teenagers and thinking all
teenagers are bad (NOT ;), then the teenagers are being
judged

graduation when you finish a level of school (studenten, ta examen)

graduate degrees higher education - when you are in college and university
