Case # 1: “Who Killed the Electric Car?”
Question # 1:

What killed the electric car according to facts in this case?

According to the facts, GM killed the electric car with poor marketing and the lack of effort to let
the public know of this great innovation. I think that major time needs to be spent on introducing
a new products in the market. Especially an electric car. People already begin to think "Well.
How does this work?', How long does the Battery last?, etc. If there isn't enough information
provided, then there's a high chance that the customer is no longer interested.

Question # 2:

What does GM's decision to end production of the electric car have to do with
business ethics?

Based on GM's six principles, they seem to care about the environment and will always look into
ways of improving it. I think that giving up on a product that could’ve helped our environment
years and years ago was a huge mistake. It went against everything that they believed in. 1ney
should've stood by their words and went back to the drawing board with a much better marketing
strategy. Imagine if it there were more electric cars, and gas cars were rare. Would there be as
much smog in LA?

Question # 3:

What are the pros and cons of the technologies that replace the internal
combustion engine?

The other technologies that could replace the internal combustion engine would help the
environment by "burning cleaner than gasoline. The car that uses this technology would have
more horsepower and torque. The fuel source that is used is renewable because it comes from
corn and other grains. On the other hand, the fuel would need to be stored and the cost for fuel
cell technology is expensive.

Question # 4:

If you were the CEO of GM, what decision would you have made about the
EVI?

I would want continue the product or the idea of having an electric car. Before the product is
launched, I would have a solid marketing campaign going to introduce this new product. I would
introduce how it works. How it would help our environment, cost, etc. I would ensure that my
customer is fully aware of this innovation and why it was created.

Question # 5:

Based on the factors that allegedly "billed" the electric car what are current
factors that may now offer different results for this toe of car's success in the
market?

I think that since hybrid cars have been introduced, people may now be more comfortable in
investing into a car that is fully electrically powered. We are starting to see more and more
electric powering stations, and that's a good sign. It means that companies are aware of what is
going on, and that changes in our daily lives can really affect the environment. I've been seeing
more and more electric cars In LA. This is the # 1 city that needs an environmental change.

likely that the company would discriminate based on gender differences?
