1. Introduction
The businesses I have selected for the Local Case is Navyas Sharee, which is an online clothing

August of 2020.It is an online clothing store where she collects the sharee from the weaver and
these weaver are professional of making traditional Jamdani sharee and Jamdani is the main
product of her business also she only sales Jamdani sharee or salwar kamiz. Her plan is to expand
in the market more to serve the customer traditional quality full Jamdani sharee at minimum profit.

Background of the Entrepreneur

The owner of the Navyas Saree is Sherajum Monira. Her age is 25 and she is a married independent
woman. She is a student of BBA department of North South University and currently majoring in
HRM. She has around 500 to 600 loyal customers online. She runs and maintains her business
solo.

Overview of the established business

Though she used to sell sharee on offline around 5 months before she started her business on
online. Mainly on offline she used to sell sharee to her friends and relatives .When the pandemic
hit down, she thinks she need to start business on online. It has been almost 1year since she started
her business on online and her business activities operate from her house because it's the initial
stage of business and based on customer demand she thinks that she don’t need any office or place
to run her business. Mostly she use her bedroom as her warehouse.

Inspiration for the idea of company

As I mentioned before she is an independent woman, she wants to earn her own affordability and
wants to bear her own expenses. Besides that her family is business back grounded and her mother
has a business also. Also relatives and in laws criticism inspire her that she should stand up by
herself. Then she added that she loves to wear traditional Jamdani sharee and nowadays business
owners are selling the Jamdani sharees at high price. This thinking also made her start her own
venture and provide the customer at the right price.

2. Description
The online business name is Navyas Saree where she sells Jamdani Sharee and her aim is to
provide authentic quality full sharee at the right price to the customer. She has around 3700
customers who follow her page and this number is completely organic as she doesn't want to boost
her page. She like to have organic growth of her page which is slow but she thinks if someone
buys her product, those customer will automatically recommend others, this way she will got the

3
genuine customer .She invested in business 10,000tk capital by herself and that was her savings,
though she didn’t do any market research before launching the venture and have zero idea about
the online business. She also took customized orders based on the customer preference. She
operates her business from Dhaka and serves customers all over Bangladesh and outside of the
country. Inside Dhaka she charges 70tk delivery charge and outside of Dhaka she charges 120tk
and delivery is provided through S.A or Sundarban courier service. Also for abroad delivery she
uses DHL or FedEx based on customer preference. Sherajum Monira manages her own business
by herself and within 1 year of online business she has gained around 600 loyal customers. Her
business warehouse location is Matikata Dhaka cantonment, which is her house. She kept price
variation while setting the price of Jamdani Sharee which is 800tk to 45000tk, so that different
range of income people can afford to buy her Sharee. Her targeted customer is 21 to 55 women
basically she takes sharees pictures from the factory, then upload the picture on her page, based on
their preference she brings product or customized the order.

3. Challenges
According to Sherajum Monira If any business doesn't face any loss then it might not be known as
business, from the loss you will be able to understand the market more and be able to give better
service.

Initial

She and Navyas Saree faced some barriers, during the initial period of launching the venture
online-

 Faced criticism: Her friends, in-laws and relatives criticized and mocked her that clothing
business is not a good thing to do online. Her in-laws are not supportive enough about the
business rather dragging her down by saying many bad things.

 Lack of dealer knowledge: As she started her business without the proper market research,
at the beginning she faced trouble getting the product from an authentic source. After
launching the venture she went for the dealer seeking. Because every business owner needs
a personal dealer.

 Facing difficulties to set the price: setting the correct pricing about the product is very
important, because your profitability depends on it’s she don’t have any details idea about
the product, she is facing difficulties to set the price because she didn’t set the profit scale.

 Lack knowledge of Delivery Company: Initially she faced trouble trusting the delivery
company, she used to hesitate which delivery company she should choose as nowadays

4
most of the delivery companies don’t do their duty properly and according to her customer
satisfaction also depend on the delivery management.

Current

Currently Navyas Saree is facing few challenges and these are-

 Increasing competitors: She observes that nowadays this generation are more into our
traditional Jamdani Sharee, as a result consumer demand increases the competitors which is a
threat for her business.

 Order cancelation: Nowadays there are few categories of customers who like to place an order
so confidently and at the end of the day they cancel the order without any reason. As she made
the product based on the order without taking any advance from the customer by investing her
own money this is considered a big loss for business because later it's hard to difficult to resell
the product.

4. Solution Strategies
The owner of Navyas Saree Sherajum Monira adopted some solutions to deal with the initial and
current challenges.

Initial

The solution strategies that Sherajum Monira adopted for the initial challenges are-

 Sherajum Monira takes those criticisms as her power of strength, she thinks when
people are trying to do something on their own that time surroundings people feel more
jealous about their work because they are not capable enough to do that.
 Sherajum Monira did find her personal dealer after a long search and struggle. She went
to Narayngonj and Demra in search of the right dealer for her business.
 Once she finds out about the dealer, it’s easier for her to set the price according to the
profit scale. Besides that, she learned many things about the product like how it's made,
quality, how to know which one is real or fake etc.
 Sometimes she still gives delivery to the close ones by herself but commercially she
delivers the product through pathao and redex, which she thinks is reliable.

Current

The solution strategies that Sherajum Monira adopted for the current challenges are-

5
 As competitors are increasing due to the customer demand, Sherajum Monira is trying to bring
more designs and new product lines for her business to attract the customer. She came up with
the idea that she will do her product promotion by wearing them by herself.

 Due to the order cancelation, she made an announcement policy so that before place an order
customer should know about the order policy.

5. Current financial situation

As Sherajum Monira started her business online during the covid time, where that time many
businesses started to wrap up from the online due to loss.So during this covid time her business is
doing okay. Monthly she earns approx. 17,000 tk to 20,000 tk out of 35000tk sales and yearly so
far she made 80,000 to 90,000 tk.Though she didn’t share the expense amount. All of the financial
data maintained in the excel sheet and in the tally book. As she took the order from the Facebook
pages message or on call, she doesn't have a cash receipt book or memo book.

This is how she keep record her order.

6. Future plan for the business

As she has around 600 loyal customers and she operates her business from her home, she thinks
one day she will serve more customers and have her own physical shop in Dhaka and also have
her own warehouse and production house. Also she wants to extend her product line which will be
more focused on ethnic clothing. Her vision is to sustain on the market as long as possible and
establish her brand and position the brand in customers' heads.

6
7. Recommendation
I have noticed her business pattern and I would like to give some opinion.

 She should be stricter about her business policy, especially when people cancel their
order without any reason. She can make a policy where she can write once customers
place an order they are not able to cancel it and money isn’t refundable and she will
take legal actions. This way fraud customers will think twice before placing an order.
 As her business is growing she can focus on packaging, can make her own brand logo
and also make cash memo to attract the customer.
 In terms of her brand marketing she can do small giveaways to retain more organic
customers, and can offer discounts on special occasions.
 As she loves to wear Sharee, often she can photo-shoot wearing her own brand sharee
to advertise about her business. This way she will gain more customer trust.
 She can bring more unique design and variation of Sharees as she is making profit from
the business.
 She can do live video by herself, so that customers can have a better view about the
product.

8. Conclusion
In this pandemic Sherajum Monira runs her business very patiently and handles her solo business
adequately. Currently her business is in a stable position as we know it's not an easy task to
maintain business in this hard time beside she is also a housewife and student also.
