INTRODUCTION

Here in Camarines Norte, the most in demand or most popular product is coconut. We

can make a variety of products through the use of coconut. Some of these are copra, charcoal and

oil. But as of today, the most in demand product that coconut can produce is copra. There are

many comprade choose to buy copra because it is an easy money business. Even if you have a

small amount of capital to start with, you will slowly regain the money you used and maybe the

return will also be much better than you expected. Also in this kind of business, you only have to

know how to deal with other people and also trust, it will help your business to have a good

image and also you as the owner. It will help you to make your business gain profit and

encourage many people to trade their products to you.

Product History and Ownership

Copra or dried coconut is one of the biggest and popular products here in Camarines

Norte. As you can see here in our province we have plenty of Copra buyer and dealer

establishments. The owner observes that even you are only putting a small amount of money or

capital in the business itself it will become successful because those kind of product is in

demand. Another reason of the owner on why he started this business is that he wants to have his

family a good life in the present and in the future. The owner put up his business in Talobatib

because he figured out that this place is the center location, because places like Paracale,

Panganiban and Labo stopped in this place when they have some raw material. For instance he

has the more opportunity to buy and help those coconuts owners and he can deal deliver more

copra for his other connections all over the place.

Business Goal

We all know that every business has its own goal or man objective in the beginning that

they want to attain and aim at the end of the period. The following are the main goals and

objectives of Copra buyer and dealer.

 To provide copra and dried coconut all over the places

 To help the coconut owners

 To improve the trading system of copra here in our province

 To fulfil the satisfaction of the customer

 To help and sustain the family


The owner of the Copra business assures that his transactions by other people are always

good and in the right manner. He always remembers that being honest to his customers result for

their trust on him. He believes that his business will not be always in a good condition, there are

also times that it can go down and did not do well but as long as he or we will still honest and

have the spirit to move forward its business will not fall down and can be successful.

Problem and Solution

Problems won’t be excluded when we talk about business. One of the problems that can

be encountered in Copra business is its lower price or demand. Not all this kind of business is

stable and good all the time, it may come on your way no matter what you do. For this kind of

business, its problems can’t just solve right away, the owner itself should wait and keep his

money in a good way. Trust is one of the key when we deal with people so he must stick to it

even when the hard or good times come.

Competition or Competitors

Based on what Mr. Pardo said, there are no competitions in this kind of business and also

there’s no such competitor. Business like this only requires great socialization skills and of

course closure to persons who are involve. The progress of the business depends to the owner

itself on how he or she manage and cooperate to its people because based on our interview, your

business will grow when you deal with the persons involve in an appropriate and nice way.

Market Analysis Summary

This business is not suitable for a very young age. The province of Camarines Norte are

rich in coconut trees. Most of the people enjoy collecting and harvesting coconut. Copra is one of

the product that in demand for this crops and sometimes the price per kilo are high so the

tendency of the trader. They will go to the nearest comprador or purchaser to sell their products

because when it comes to this product, many people are willing to trade because the amount of

money you will get is higher than expected.

Market Segmentation

There is no such separation needed in the business of Mr. Pardo but sometimes yes when

there are customers who trade their coconut and charcoal. Copra’s are not categorized based on

their kind and quality.

Marketing Strategy

The owner had no such strategy to promote his business. He just said that dealing and

cooperating to the people around him and also the customers with a nice and appropriate manner,

they will trust you and sell their products to you intentionally. Because being a business owner

you should possess that kind of behaviour.


Market Needs

The business fulfils the needs of the customers by giving them the right and exact amount of

money from the product they trade. In terms of paying the traders, the money must be exact so

that they feel comfortable and safe when they want to trade again.

REFLECTION

Problem Encountered

The interviewer doesn’t have any problem and issue when they conduct their interview

because the owner of the business is the father of one of their member which is Mr. Dionisio

Pardo. We only have some problem on deciding what kind of business we should study, ask and

interview.

Lesson Learned

We’ve learned that not all businesses start with a high investment and big amount of

money just like Mr. Pardo, the only important key in this kind of business is the trust of people

around you. The term Copra is not so popular and known for as students because some of us

thought that it is just only a simple kind of business but after we conducted this interview our

mind becomes aware of what is the true essence and used of Copra which is Copra a high

demand in our province and other places and it can also be used for other purposes that can give

some benefits like oil. When we talk and discuss about Copra business we should be prepare and

have connections to others because it is not easy to start a business if we only rely on ourselves,

we should also ask for help and opinion of other business owner that is related to your business

just like what Mr. Pardo did.

While we are conducting the interview with the business owner, we noticed that he is

calm, polite and easy-to-talk person and that is what we think why those people around him like

his employees and other business owner giving their trust on him.
