EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Primarily, this report is about my business activity base on 1 week and I have decided
to do my business as a fashion/beauty clothes/accessories seller through online platform. I am
selling to complete my assignment as it is a requirement for an individual assignment of the
subject ENT 300. This assignment is assigned by my lecturer, Dr. Mohd Afandi Bin Abu Bakar.

The previous page is a table of content of what this report contain. I will share my 1-
week report of my business activity and what I have gained or learnt from this assignment. The
report mentioned contain activities such as the introduction of the product I sells, the location
or platform used to sell my product, my business timeline, the targeted customers, method of
business and so on.

To sum it up, I have gained new experience and knowledge as an entrepreneurship.


Such as how it is hard for me to get any customer through online platform, I gained no profit
at all through this business activity. I learnt that being an entrepreneurship requires a strong
mindset and the determination to keep going. You must also be diligent, smart, and disciplined
in order to keep going. I had my fun while trying out this business opportunity and I would say
that it is worth the try because at the end of the day I am still encouraged and motivated to keep
the business going.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

3.1 Introduction

The product I am selling as a dropship is related to beauty/fashion product which is


dresses or accessories that is suitable for female. The dresses/accessories that I sells are from
groups I have joined in telegram which sells a lot of beautiful dresses that are quite cheap and
affordable. Most of the dresses are suitable for Muslimah as it is long and covered.

3.1.1 Reason of choice

The reason I chose to sell this is mainly because it does not require me to spend
any money in order for me to run this business as a dropship and it also has a simple
system which I only have to markup the price by a little in order for me to gain my
profit. Additionally, being a dropship means I do not have to keep any stocks in my
hand and all of the order and delivery are managed by the HQ itself. All there is left for
me to do is to promote any item that I choose from the group to social media platform
and to arrange the order of my customers. Other than that, I chose to do this business
because as we all know that Hari Raya Aidilfitri is around the corner and so I think it
is a great opportunity for me to sell dresses that will attract the customer, especially
female customer who loves fashion/beauty such as myself and I am sure that during
this time most of them are searching for the most suitable dress to wear on the grand
day.

3.2 Location of Business

This business is a Work-From-Home job which means I sells online and did not own
any premise in order to run this business. I chose to do this online because as a student I do not
have much money on me to spend/invest to make it into a shop where I will have to rent.

As I mentioned above, this business is run through online platform. I opened a business
account in Instagram to promote the item that I wanted to sell, and I also promoted it through
Facebook using my personal account. The name of my business account that I created in
Instagram is Xelena_shop. You can search it up on Instagram and see that I have posted a few
dresses to sell during the month of April.

3.3 Business Timeline

I started this business 2 weeks after I got the assignment from my lecturer. At first, I
did not know what kind of business I should run because of my inexperience in this field, hence
causing me to start this business a little bit later than others.

As for the working hours, it was at any time that I am free as it is a business of my own
idea. Most of the days, I would do it at nighttime since it is the time with which I am most free.
I will post the item that I chose to sell on stories are WhatsApp status every day.

3.4 Targeted Customers

As I am selling dresses and accessories, it is obvious that the customers that I am


targeting are female customers that are into fashion wears. However, it is also common for
sellers to get male customer in certain situation. For example, the customer is buying not for
himself but as a present for his wife, girlfriend, mother, sister or even grandmother or just
purely a gift for a female friend. Other than that, I am also targeting those who are not able to
afford beautiful and expensive wears.

3.4.1 Reason

The reason I choose to target more female customer is because I myself is also
a female and it will be easier and more convenient for me to communicate with them. I
personally experience the awkwardness to speak with a male seller because I do not
know who the seller is, and it will cause discomfort in a way or another. Especially
those who are originally bad at conversations.

Secondly, the reason I choose to target middle class buyers is because the
dresses that I am selling are all cheap and affordable in terms of price and quality of
materials. Furthermore, the dresses that I sell are also beautiful and up to trend.

3.5 Method of Business

My method of business is all online business. The online platform that I use to run my
business are Telegram, Facebook, Instagram and not to forget Shoppe. I promote the items I
wanted to sell online and try to get customers through the promoted post. Now that Facebook
has a new system that helps sellers to sell easier which is called “Marketplace” it is easier for
me to post and promote my item. In Instagram, I have opened a business account named
“Xelena_shop” and posted the item I wanted to sell online. After that, I followed anyone that
could be a potential customer in order for me to gain profits. Same goes for Shoppe, I created
an account and posted what I am selling and wait for orders to come. As for Telegram, I
joined a group in telegram that I can join freely and take the picture posted of any dresses I
want to sell online.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Through this assignment, I have learnt that building a business starting from nothing
is not an easy task. A business that you yourself started is not something that will succeed in
only a week unless you are an influencer that has a lot of supportive fans and friends who are
willing to support your business and helps your business to grow. Furthermore, to start a
business you must first have a savings in order to help your own business grow. From my
experience, I only promoted through Facebook and posted on Instagram which only reach
about 5 – 10 person daily average. To boost the post, you must pay so that the apps can help
you promote your sales. Without the boost, you will only have around 5% - 10% chances of
getting a customer.

Other than that, to keep your online business going you must be diligent and
hardworking because you must post daily and share frequently. Most importantly, you must
have a strong mindset and be determined because most people who give up on business on
early stage is because usually does not hit their target from the business and eventually think
that it is hopeless and a waste of money to keep it going. During the 1 week that I work on
the progress of the business, I did not receive any customer hence I did not gain any profit
because it has only been 1 week since the business started and I might try to work on the
business so that I could keep it going instead of dumping it aside.

Lastly, I have come to realize that business is a ride where we have to take it slow
while enjoying the experience. Sometimes it might get hard but each obstacle will have its
way to be solved and that is what makes the business worth going forward for.

CONCLUSIONS

In conclusion, the goal of this assignment is to let student experience what it is like to
be a business individual. It provides us student some fresh knowledge in order to be ready for
the real world where we have to experience the difficulties in everything. It also helps
students to realize that those successful and famous business individual works hard so that
they could reach where they are today. Not everyone agrees on what we decided to pursue on,
and some will even criticize or make fun of us. To overcome the obstacles that comes as you
are growing your business is never easy and it comes in many different aspects. Hence, we
must have the enthusiasm and determination to keep going without getting affected by the
critiques. To be an entrepreneurship, we must have the courage to always try and experience
the new things and the mindset to not give up easily. Obviously everywhere you start you
will always face difficulties but once you get the hang of it you will be unstoppable and
realize that you have come this far.
