DISCUSSION

The hanger and slotted mass was attached to the glider by a string. (The glider was
held to a certain distance.) When the glider was released, the gravitational force pull
down the hanger and slotted mass together along the air track linearly passed
through the photogate. The time was recorded as shown on the photogate.
Therefore, when the weight of the slotted mass increased, the glider pulled quicker,
producing a shorter time interval recorded by the photogate.

CONCLUSION.
In this experiment, the linear air track was used to investigate Newton’s Second Law.
Acceleration (gaining speed) happens when a force acts on a mass (object). Thus,
when the weight is increased, the acceleration also increased. This result proved the
theoretical idea of acceleration. Therefore, the data obtained from this experiment
completely support Newton’s Second Law.
