Affected Routes Akyempim-Praso, Akyempim-Tarkwa & Cape Coast-Jukwa

Notification

This is to notify All GSWL employees and contractors that after yesterday’s heavy down
pour(rains), major routes leading to the mine site have been affected and these routes include
;


Significant Safety Alert

Akyempim to Praso is unmotorable due to a bridge collapse at Abasa(a suburb of


Nyinase)
 Tarkwa to Akyempim is unmotorable due to flooding at the Bonsa Bridge.
 Cape Coast to Jukwa due to damaged bridge/culvert.

Immediate Action

 The Safety and Human resource team drove to the aforementioned routes and
assessed for alternative safe routes.
 Employees were commuted with Departmental vehicles

Safety Recommendations
 Employees are encouraged to avoid travelling through these routes unless it is necessary.
 The situation at the Bonsa bridge has improved but only 4x4 (SUVs) vehicles and commuter
buses are encouraged to use this route.
 Alternative route for the Akyempim – Praso route have been picked up and indicated on a
map to guide all road users(see below)
