Elementary Reading Attitude Survey

The student has a fantastic attitude about reading. Out of twenty questions she chose the

happiest Garfield for 11 and the second happiest for 6. She did not choose Garfield that looked

unhappy, and only picked Garfield, that was downright mad 3 times. Those are very positive

responses, especially for a struggling reader. She chose a negative response for the question

about reading instead of playing. I feel that lots of children would also choose that. It also didn’t

surprise me that she chose a negative response for reading workbook pages and worksheets. I am

not sure if it was because she thought it was asking her about completing them or if it is just not

fun for her to read them. The last negative response that she had was about reading a dictionary.

She was unsure of what a dictionary was, but I explained it to her. It did not sound appealing to

her.
