These are the 10 biggest global health
threats of the decade

Brief Synopsis of the article

The world cannot afford to do nothing,
that is the message from the World
Health Organization on the publication of
its report, which lists the most pressing
health challenges for the next decade.
All of the health challenges on the WHO
list are urgent and many are interrelated.
And each challenge requires coordinated
efforts from the global health sector,
policy makers, international organizations
and communities, the organization says.
However, there are concerns that world
leaders are not investing enough
resources in key health systems and
priorities.

Critical reflections on the content,

issues, and value of the article in It is apparent that our world is facing trials
terms of the overall course objectives and tribulations when it comes to health.
So many aspects including elevating
health in the climate debate, delivering
health in conflict and crisis, making
healthcare fairer, and many more.
Global health issues will only grow more
important in coming years, as countries
and economies around the world become
more connected. Growing wealth and
trade has the potential to make important
improvements to human health, but there
are also new threats. New infectious
diseases and stubborn chronic conditions
will present challenges for many years to
come, but doctors and scientists also
work together globally. Working together,
they dedicate their lives to improving
global health.
With this, we will be able to comprehend
the importance of being aware and of
being responsible with our actions toward
the global health challenges that we face
now and in the future. It is our utmost
duty to combat this threat and we should
be knowledgeable as to how we can play
our role in this narrative.

Most valuable lesson derived from the

article It is of being aware in what is happening
to our world. With the rise of technology
and social media, most of us are slowly
being lost and forgot to value the things
that matter most. I think it is time to
reevaluate our doings and start to be part
of a mission in solving the global health
threats that we are dealing today.
Thriving together could make a lasting
impact in our world.

A look at the Philippine health sector
during and after COVID-19

Brief Synopsis of the article

After years of planning, the Philippines'
Universal Health Care (UHC) is up and
running, strengthened by the
collaboration and expertise of the private
sector. The mandate to expand primary
and preventive care to a growing
population is broad and encompasses a
number of strategies to combat both
communicable and non-communicable
diseases (NCDs). Limited funding and a
shortage of medical staff remain a
existing constraints on the system, as the
COVID-19 pandemic continued to put
pressure on the healthcare infrastructure.
Nonetheless, the government continued
to focus resources on priority areas
where funds and capacity would allow,
while the private sector stepped in to fill
some of the remaining gaps. Cooperation
between public and private actors is
expected to increase as UHC becomes
more dynamic.

Critical reflections on the content,

issues, and value of the article in When COVID-19 took center stage in
terms of the overall course objectives 2020, the pandemic displayed ongoing
challenges and opportunities for the
sector to prioritize once the spread of the
virus subsides. Scholarship and
secondment programs for medical
personnel are designed to gradually help
fill gaps, develop capacities, and improve
the quality of human capital in both rural
and urban areas. This will be key to
facilitating UHC and helping with future
crises. It will be necessary to redouble
efforts to improve prevention aspects and
basic services, such as vaccines and
periodic check-ups, which have become
secondary in the pandemic. Meanwhile,
the central role played by research and
innovative healthcare technology during
the year offers another investment
opportunity. The COVID-19 pandemic
has underscored the importance of skillful
crisis management for all countries, and
this knowledge will support the
government in its overall goal of building
a successful UHC system in the years to
come.

As we undertake this subject, this article

became a catalyst for us to be cognizant
and to relate in the learnings that we will
be able to gain. It is inevitable to have
background knowledge as it becomes the
foundation on having a firm
understanding to the topics. This way, we
can truly appreciate and enjoy our
journey in tackling nursing care of at risk
and sick adult clients with problems in
Fluid & Electrolytes and Acid Base
Imbalances.

Most valuable lesson derived from the

article One thing I learned from this article is that
—nothing is impossible if we work hand-
in-hand. It is evident that we are in the
lane of developing the Philippines’
universal health care (UHC) system. The
government has continued to pursue its
goal, allocating resources in priority areas
where means and capacity would allow,
while the private sector has acted to fill
some of the remaining gaps.
Collaboration between public and private
actors is expected to increase as UHC
becomes more dynamic.
As citizens, we should always be
supportive as well as be respectful as to
how the government takes its action in
combatting wide issues in our community,
especially in the health sector. It is no
joke to be in their position and so we
should just see the brighter side of
everything. Little by little, we will be able
to realize that there are really actions that
has been done just to cater the needs of
the people.
