[The theme of the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge is Carbon Capture, but that only
explores one aspect of the growing carbon problem. The purpose of the New
Technology Experience: Carbon Countermeasures is to guide teams in learning
about climate change, the impact of carbon dioxide (CO2) on our environment,
and the technologies being developed and already in place to ensure the safety
of our planet through the future.

Shaw’s idea:

A convenient canister that can be placed in dumps, which is solar powered and
has a sensor which can detect methane emissions and captures it using an
oxidizing agent which in turns chemically converts the methane into a usable
material eg. heat, electricity etc. NB: Not entirely sure on the oxidising agent and
how it’ll efficiently get the methane gas in the first place.
