1. A survey of 350 employees found that 177 worked in an ITC company, 201 are trained
professionals and 117 owned a small business. Additionally:

∙ All employees in ICT are trained professionals.

∙ The number of trained, non-ICT employees who do not own small businesses is twice

the number of trained, non-ICT employees who own small businesses

∙ 95 employees are untrained and do not own a small business.

∙ 54 untrained employees own a small business. .

∙ x employees are ICT trained professionals who own small businesses.

a) Draw a well-labelled Venn diagram to illustrate fully the information above.

X= 117 - (y+54)
c) Calculate, by solving the equation in 1(b), the number of ICT employees who do
not own small businesses.

→ If X= 55 then, the number of ICT employees who don't own a small business is

177- 55 = 122

∴The number of ICT employees who do not own a small

business is 122.
