2nd PHYSICS ACTIVITY

TOPIC: Pressure
AIM: To make water fountain with balloon.
MATRIAL: Trasparent plastic bottle, two bent straws, glue,scissors,ballon and
coloured water.

PROCEDURE:
1. Make two holes in the cap with help of scissors just enough to fit the bent
straws.
2. Make sure the holes have some distance apart
3. Insert two bent straws in the holes. The bent end should be outside of the
bottle.
4. Secure the straws in their position in an air tight seal using glue
5. Shorten one of the straws a little bit using scissor as shown.
6. Attach a balloon to the shorter straw with a rubber band or thread
7. Inflate the balloon by blowing through the straw.
8. Fill coloured water in the bottle and attach the lid with balloon as shown.
When the balloon is released you can get a fountain.
 9. The fountain can continue till the water level in the bottle goes below the
longer straw.

CONCLUSION: When air from the balloon gets released in the bottle, it
created positive pressure in the bottle. As the volume of bottle is fixed, water
gets pushed out of the bottle through the other straw and forms a fountain.
