Calculate the mass of the ocean

We know that ocean is made of water so

Formula is
P = m / V → m = 𝑃𝑃𝐻𝐻2 𝑂𝑂 × V
𝑃𝑃𝐻𝐻2 𝑂𝑂 = 103 kg/m3
V =?
We need to find V first
V = AE × do
AE= area of the earth
do = depth of the ocean
AE = 𝜋𝜋 × d2
d= 107
𝜋𝜋 = 3,14
AE = 3,14 × (107)2
AE = 3,14 × 1014
For do max = 104 m
min = 103 m
Geometric mean
√103 × 104 ≈ 3.103 m
So, V = 3,14 × (107)2 × 3. 103
= 9.42 × 1017 m3
→ m = 103 × 9.42 × 1017
= 9.42 × 1020 kg
So, the mass ocean of earth = 9.42 × 1020 kg
Problem 5
a. Determine the time it takes the puck to slow to a stop.

𝑉𝑉𝑉𝑉−𝑉𝑉𝑉𝑉 𝑉𝑉𝑉𝑉−𝑉𝑉𝑉𝑉
a= → t=
𝑡𝑡 𝑎𝑎

vf = 0 m/s vi = 9..32 m/s a = - 4.36 m/s2

𝑂𝑂−9.32
→t= = 2.3 s
−4.06

So t = 2.3s
b/ Use your initial speed and the calculated time to determine the average speed and the distance
that the puck travels before stopping.

The total distance covered and the average speed can be written as

S = vtut + 0.5at2

S = (9.32 × 2.3) + 0.5 (-4.06 × (2.3)2)

S = 21,43 – 10,73

S = 10,75 m
𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇 𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑𝑑 𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐𝑐
Average speed =
𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇𝑇 𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡 𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡𝑡

→ Average speed = 10. 75 / 2.3

= 4,67 m/s

So : Total distance = 10,75m and Average speed = 4,75m/s

Problem 15
Use the graph to determine the acceleration values of the car at

Note : The straight line has one value slop and that one slop tell us the acceleration and
the steepness not change

a. 1.4 seconds.

b. 6.8 seconds.
At this point is on a flat horizonal
So the acceleration of a horizontal line the answer is zerozerom

c. 11.6 seconds.
∆𝑉𝑉
Slop = a=
∆𝑡𝑡
40−10
→a= = 6m/s2
15−10
d. 17.6 seconds.

∆𝑉𝑉
Slop = a=
∆𝑡𝑡
20−40
→a= = 2 m/s2
25−15
