It’s healthier to be close with friends than family (20)

A report in Personal Relationships that included 270,000 people worldwide found that having
close friends in old age was a stronger predictor of physical and emotional well-being than close
family connections. (Times, Vol.189, No. 24, 2017)
“Life” is such a wide umbrella; a word that covers many, many things, and everyone’s
experience of it is different. So let’s narrow it down. Let’s look at some poems about life that
crack open how life can feel when we’re struggling and things are hard…but also ones that put a
balm on that wound. There’s a lot of shit going on right now. There always is, but it’s been
particularly sharp and thorny lately, and sometimes we need someone to put that into the words
we just don’t have in us. Words that make us feel heard and understood, that acknowledge our

Answer
1. A good translator should be familiar with the culture, customs, and social settings of the source and
target language speakers. She should also be familiar with different registers, styles of speaking, and
social stratification of both languages.

2. Translators work with written language. They may convert audio or video into text, but never the
other way around. Meanwhile, interpreters work with spoken language. They may provide consecutive
interpreting (after the conversion) or simultaneous interpreting (during the conversation) services.
3. Because translation is necessary for the spread of information, knowledge, and ideas. It is absolutely
necessary for effective and empathetic communication between different cultures. Translation, therefore,
is critical for social harmony and peace.

4. Lebih sehat dekat dengan teman daripada keluarga

Sebuah laporan dalam Hubungan Pribadi yang melibatkan 270.000 orang di seluruh dunia menemukan
bahwa memiliki teman dekat di usia tua adalah prediktor yang lebih kuat untuk kesejahteraan fisik dan
emosional daripada hubungan keluarga dekat. (Times, Vol.189, No. 24, 2017) “Hidup” adalah payung
yang begitu luas; sebuah kata yang mencakup banyak hal, dan pengalaman setiap orang berbeda. Jadi
mari kita persempit. Mari kita lihat beberapa puisi tentang kehidupan yang mengungkapkan bagaimana
perasaan hidup ketika kita berjuang dan hal-hal sulit ... tetapi juga yang mengoleskan balsem pada luka
itu. Ada banyak hal yang terjadi saat ini. Selalu ada, tetapi akhir-akhir ini sangat tajam dan berduri, dan
kadang-kadang kita membutuhkan seseorang untuk memasukkannya ke dalam kata-kata yang tidak kita
miliki di dalam diri kita. Kata-kata yang membuat kita merasa didengar dan dipahami, yang mengakui
