1.0 INTRODUCTION
Over the century, there were lots of successful projects have been done in the
construction industry. The management of a project must be well-organized and on
schedule if it is to be successful. By minimising the expense of making a mistake that
could delay the project, this aids in finishing it within the allotted time. Project
management in construction aids in keeping the entire construction process well-
organized, from planning and design to resource management, budget management,
and more.
Project management in the construction industry entails managing each
component of the project throughout its life cycle, including its conception, planning,
execution, monitoring, and control phases. Applying Microsoft Project to the project
management of construction helps reduce errors by ensuring that this phase goes off
without a hitch.A project manager can use Microsoft Project to help with scheduling,
allocating resources to projects, monitoring progress, controlling costs, and analysing
workloads. Microsoft Project software will be used in this project report to
accomplish goals and gain practical knowledge with how to use Microsoft Project for
project management.

1.1 Project Background


In this project, the Double Storey Terrace at Taman Putera Indah Tongkang
Pecah Batu Pahat Johor Bahru was proposed with a cost estimation of RM1 396 000.
The estimated duration of this project is above 8 months which will be started on 1st
January 2023 and expected to be done on 29th December 2024. This project will
involve the site supervisor, project manager, civil engineer, and mechanical and
electrical engineering with above 100 men power. Working hour for this project is
from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm with 1 hour of rest.

1.2 Scope of Project
We are required to prepare a building construction proposal for this project. The work
breakdown structure (WBS), working time, duration estimation table, Gantt chart, and
comparison of physical and financial S-curves are all part of the project's scope. We
decided to create a three-story bungalow for our building construction project. This
project's work breakdown structure (WBS) contains up to four levels, a cost of at least
RM 800,000, and a construction time of at least (8) months. The minimum list of
activities necessary to finish the project is 80 activities, with a maximum list of 100
activities. The physical and financial S-curves will be shown in weekly percentages,
whilst the cash flow report will be presented in quarterly cash flow.

1.2.1 Objectives
The project's objectives are as follows:
i. To make sure the project requires a minimum of 80 activities and a maximum of
100 activities with at least four (4) levels of WBS.
ii. To ensure that the project's minimal cost is RM800,000.00.
iii. To make sure that the minimum project duration is eight (8) months.

1.2.2 Progress of the project


Microsoft Project contains the intended project, which aids a project manager in
setting a timetable, allocating task resources, tracking project progress, managing the
budget, and assessing workloads. Project managers can use Microsoft Project to
handle the projects.

2.0 METHODOLOGY

Microsoft Project is useful to create a detailed project plan and manage resources by
requesting and assigning tasks. This method is intended to make the construction process
more efficient and far more practicable for all parties involved. Figure below illustrates the
steps of using this software.

With the aid of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) project management tool, it divides
the project into manageable bits, making it less overwhelming and more controllable.

5.0 DISCUSSION

Microsoft is a prolific creator of PC software for engineering student and also been use as life
working civil engineering especially project manager. The most well-known operating
system is Windows. For many years, Microsoft Project has been the most popular project
management software. This is primarily due to project managers and team members'
familiarity with other Microsoft products, rather than because Microsoft Project is the best
option. Microsoft Project is another tool for project planning, scheduling, and competent and
well-organized project management. It displays a series of events and estimates how long the
construction will take to complete. Furthermore, the Microsoft Project helps us to track the
progress of our planned tasks. In a normal workflow, the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
sits between the functional specification and the project plan. Each job is defined in depth in
a functional specification, which also contains design and development criteria. The work
breakdown structure (WBS) gives a high-level overview of the project. The functional
specification details the aims and objectives. The application's behaviour of the work
breakdown structure (WBS) is frequently used to create Gantt charts for projects. According
to the timeline, this project will take 590 days to complete beginning on 1 January 2023 until
29 December 2024. In this timeline, we started with planning and preliminary works. In
preliminaries work we got site cleaning, site investigation, retaining system, excavation and
monthly report and progress photograph. We also break the permanent work we into two
phase which is building work phase 1 and building work phase 2. In this phase we focus on
the sub structure and super structure. In sub structure, we do the piling, pile cap and stump. In
super structure, we started do on the ground floor, first floor and second floor. In this
progress we do the formwork installation, rebar installation, column, beam and slab and more.
Then proceed with beam and slab ,brick walls and roof stages. Then, continue with
mechanical and electrical work such as plumbing, electrical, fire protection and more. After
that, we continue the progress with finishes work and continue with the external works such
as ramp and apron, drainage, access road and landscape. Lastly, after the building work finish,
we proceed with the RI inspection and Certificate of Statutory Completion (CSC).

6.0 CONCLUSION
Finally, the report includes all important construction information, such as the deadline, the
progress that must be monitored for each work activity, and the total construction cost. All
the holidays linked with the completion of the project have been considered. Throughout the
project's implementation, weather variables were also considered. By presenting the start and
end dates for each activity, the use of Microsoft Project to produce Gantt charts aids in the
smoothing of the construction process. In a nutshell, it assists in avoiding project delays and
keeping everything on track. The report also includes an S-curve for physical and financial
data, which is useful for tracking the actual and real-time cumulative data of project parts. In
