Genesis Chapter 9 ‫ית‬ ‫ְּב ֵר אִׁש‬

;‫ָּב ָניו‬-‫ֹנַח ְו ֶא ת‬-‫ ֶא ת‬,‫ַוְיָב ֶר ְך ֱא ֹלִה ים‬  ‫א‬ 1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and
said unto them: 'Be fruitful and multiply, and
‫ ּוִמ ְלאּו‬,‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר ָלֶה ם ְּפ רּו ּוְר בּו‬ replenish the earth.
.‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ֶא ת‬
‫ ַע ל‬,‫ ִיְה ֶיה‬,‫ּומֹוַר ֲא ֶכם ְו ִח ְּת ֶכם‬  ‫ב‬ 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you
shall be upon every beast of the earth, and
;‫עֹוף ַה ָּׁש ָמ ִים‬-‫ ְו ַע ל ָּכל‬,‫ַח ַּית ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ָּכל‬ upon every fowl of the air, and upon all
‫ְּד ֵגי‬-‫ְּב ֹכל ֲא ֶׁש ר ִּת ְר ֹמׂש ָה ֲא ָד ָמ ה ּוְב ָכל‬ wherewith the ground teemeth, and upon all
.‫ ְּב ֶיְד ֶכם ִנָּת נּו‬,‫ַה ָּים‬ the fishes of the sea: into your hand are they
delivered.
‫ ָלֶכם ִיְה ֶיה‬,‫ַח י‬-‫ֶר ֶמ ׂש ֲא ֶׁש ר הּוא‬-‫ָּכל‬  ‫ג‬ 3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be for
food for you; as the green herb have I given
‫ ָנַת ִּת י ָלֶכם‬,‫ ְּכ ֶיֶר ק ֵע ֶׂש ב‬ :‫ְלָא ְכ ָלה‬ you all.
.‫ֹּכל‬-‫ֶא ת‬
.‫ ְּב ַנְפ ׁשֹו ָד מֹו ֹלא ֹתאֵכלּו‬,‫ָּב ָׂש ר‬-‫ַא ְך‬  ‫ד‬ 4 Only flesh with the life thereof, which is the
blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
,‫ִּד ְמ ֶכם ְלַנְפ ֹׁשֵת יֶכם ֶא ְד ֹרׁש‬-‫ְו ַא ְך ֶא ת‬  ‫ה‬ 5 And surely your blood of your lives will I
require; at the hand of every beast will I
,‫ַח ָּיה ֶא ְד ְר ֶׁש ּנּו; ּוִמ ַּיד ָה ָא ָד ם‬-‫ִמ ַּיד ָּכל‬ require it; and at the hand of man, even at the
‫ֶנֶפׁש‬-‫ ֶא ת‬,‫ֶא ְד ֹרׁש‬--‫ִמ ַּיד ִא יׁש ָא ִח יו‬ hand of every man's brother, will I require
.‫ָה ָא ָד ם‬ the life of man.

 :‫ ָּב ָא ָד ם ָּד מֹו ִיָּׁש ֵפְך‬,‫ֹׁשֵפְך ַּד ם ָה ָא ָד ם‬  ‫ו‬ 6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall
his blood be shed; for in the image of God
.‫ָה ָא ָד ם‬-‫ ָע ָׂש ה ֶא ת‬,‫ִּכ י ְּב ֶצ ֶלם ֱא ֹלִה ים‬ made He man.
,‫ ְּפ רּו ּוְר בּו; ִׁש ְר צּו ָב ָא ֶר ץ‬,‫ְו ַא ֶּת ם‬  ‫ז‬ 7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply;
swarm in the earth, and multiply therein.' {S}
}‫ {ס‬ .‫ָב ּה‬-‫ּוְר בּו‬
‫ָּב ָניו‬-‫ ְו ֶא ל‬, ‫ֹנַח‬-‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר ֱא ֹלִה ים ֶא ל‬  ‫ח‬ 8 And God spoke unto Noah, and to his sons
with him, saying:
.‫ִא ּתֹו ֵלאֹמר‬
‫ְּב ִר יִת י‬-‫ ִה ְנִני ֵמ ִק ים ֶא ת‬,‫ַוֲא ִני‬  ‫ט‬ 9 'As for Me, behold, I establish My covenant
with you, and with your seed after you;
.‫ ַא ֲח ֵר יֶכם‬,‫ַזְר ֲעֶכם‬-‫ ְו ֶא ת‬,‫ִא ְּת ֶכם‬
,‫ֶנֶפׁש ַה ַח ָּיה ֲא ֶׁש ר ִא ְּת ֶכם‬-‫ְו ֵא ת ָּכל‬  ‫י‬ 10 and with every living creature that is with
you, the fowl, the cattle, and every beast of
 ‫ַח ַּית ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ָּב עֹוף ַּב ְּב ֵה ָמ ה ּוְב ָכל‬ the earth with you; of all that go out of the
ark, even every beast of the earth.
‫ ְלֹכל ַח ַּית‬,‫ִא ְּת ֶכם; ִמ ֹּכל ֹיְצ ֵא י ַה ֵּת ָב ה‬
.‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬
,‫ְּב ִר יִת י ִא ְּת ֶכם‬-‫ַוֲה ִק ֹמִת י ֶא ת‬  ‫יא‬ 11 And I will establish My covenant with
you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any
;‫ָּב ָׂש ר עֹוד ִמ ֵּמ י ַה ַּמ ּבּול‬-‫ִיָּכֵר ת ָּכל‬-‫ְו ֹלא‬ more by the waters of the flood; neither shall
.‫ ְלַׁש ֵח ת ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬,‫ִיְה ֶיה עֹוד ַמ ּבּול‬-‫ְו ֹלא‬ there any more be a flood to destroy the
earth.'
‫ַה ְּב ִר ית‬-‫ ֹזאת אֹות‬,‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר ֱא ֹלִה ים‬  ‫יב‬ 12 And God said: 'This is the token of the
covenant which I make between Me and you
‫ ּוֵב ין‬,‫ֲא ִני ֹנֵת ן ֵּב יִני ּוֵב יֵניֶכם‬-‫ֲא ֶׁש ר‬ and every living creature that is with you, for
,‫ְלֹדֹרת‬--‫ ֲא ֶׁש ר ִא ְּת ֶכם‬,‫ֶנֶפׁש ַח ָּיה‬-‫ָּכל‬ perpetual generations:
.‫עֹוָלם‬
‫ ָנַת ִּת י ֶּב ָע ָנן; ְו ָה ְיָת ה‬,‫ַק ְׁש ִּת י‬-‫ֶא ת‬  ‫יג‬ 13 I have set My bow in the cloud, and it shall
be for a token of a covenant between Me and
.‫ ֵּב יִני ּוֵב ין ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬,‫ְלאֹות ְּב ִר ית‬ the earth.
,‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ ְּב ַע ְנִני ָע ָנן ַע ל‬,‫ְו ָה ָיה‬  ‫יד‬ 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring
clouds over the earth, and the bow is seen in
.‫ ֶּב ָע ָנן‬,‫ְו ִנְר ֲא ָת ה ַה ֶּק ֶׁש ת‬ the cloud,
‫ ֲא ֶׁש ר ֵּב יִני‬,‫ְּב ִר יִת י‬-‫ְו ָזַכְר ִּת י ֶא ת‬  ‫טו‬ 15 that I will remember My covenant, which
is between Me and you and every living
,‫ֶנֶפׁש ַח ָּיה‬-‫ ּוֵב ין ָּכל‬,‫ּוֵב יֵניֶכם‬ creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no
‫ִיְה ֶיה עֹוד ַה ַּמ ִים‬-‫ָּב ָׂש ר; ְו ֹלא‬-‫ְּב ָכל‬ more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
.‫ָּב ָׂש ר‬-‫ ְלַׁש ֵח ת ָּכל‬,‫ְלַמ ּבּול‬
, ‫ ֶּב ָע ָנן; ּוְר ִא יִת יָה‬,‫ְו ָה ְיָת ה ַה ֶּק ֶׁש ת‬  ‫טז‬ 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I
will look upon it, that I may remember the
‫ ּוֵב ין‬,‫ ֵּב ין ֱא ֹלִה ים‬,‫ִלְז ֹּכר ְּב ִר ית עֹוָלם‬ everlasting covenant between God and every
‫ָּב ָׂש ר ֲא ֶׁש ר‬-‫ֶנֶפׁש ַח ָּיה ְּב ָכל‬-‫ָּכל‬ living creature of all flesh that is upon the
.‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ַע ל‬ earth.'

‫ ֹזאת‬ : ‫ֹנַח‬-‫ ֶא ל‬,‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר ֱא ֹלִה ים‬  ‫יז‬ 17 And God said unto Noah: 'This is the
token of the covenant which I have
‫ ּוֵב ין‬,‫ ֵּב יִני‬,‫ ֲא ֶׁש ר ֲה ִק ֹמִת י‬,‫ַה ְּב ִר ית‬-‫אֹות‬ established between Me and all flesh that is
}‫ {פ‬ .‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ָּב ָׂש ר ֲא ֶׁש ר ַע ל‬-‫ָּכל‬ upon the earth.' {P}
--‫ַה ֵּת ָב ה‬-‫ ַה ֹּיְצ ִא ים ִמ ן‬, ‫ֹנַח‬-‫ַוִּיְה יּו ְב ֵני‬  ‫יח‬ 18 And the sons of Noah, that went forth
from the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and
.‫ הּוא ֲא ִב י ְכ ָנַע ן‬,‫ ְו ָח ם ָוָיֶפת; ְו ָח ם‬,‫ֵׁש ם‬ Japheth; and Ham is the father of Canaan.
,‫ֹנַח ; ּוֵמ ֵא ֶּלה‬-‫ ְּב ֵני‬,‫ְׁש ֹלָׁש ה ֵא ֶּלה‬  ‫יט‬ 19 These three were the sons of Noah, and of
these was the whole earth overspread.
.‫ָה ָא ֶר ץ‬-‫ָנְפ ָצ ה ָכל‬
.‫ ָּכֶר ם‬,‫ ִא יׁש ָה ֲא ָד ָמ ה; ַוִּיַּט ע‬, ‫ַוָּיֶח ל ֹנַח‬  ‫כ‬ 20 And Noah the husbandman began, and
planted a vineyard.
21 And he drank of the wine, and was
 ,‫ ַוִּיְׁש ָּכר; ַוִּיְת ַּגל‬,‫ַה ַּיִין‬-‫ַוֵּיְׁש ְּת ִמ ן‬  ‫כא‬ drunken; and he was uncovered within his
tent.
.‫ְּב תֹוְך ָא ֳה ֹלה‬
‫ ֶע ְר ַות‬,‫ ֵא ת‬,‫ ָח ם ֲא ִב י ְכ ַנַע ן‬,‫ַוַּיְר א‬  ‫כב‬ 22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the
nakedness of his father, and told his two
.‫ ַּב חּוץ‬,‫ֶא ָח יו‬-‫ָא ִב יו; ַוַּיֵּגד ִלְׁש ֵני‬ brethren without.
,‫ַה ִּׂש ְמ ָלה‬-‫ַוִּיַּק ח ֵׁש ם ָוֶיֶפת ֶא ת‬  ‫כג‬ 23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment,
and laid it upon both their shoulders, and
‫ ַוֵּיְלכּו‬,‫ְׁש ֶכם ְׁש ֵניֶה ם‬-‫ַוָּיִׂש ימּו ַע ל‬ went backward, and covered the nakedness
;‫ ַוְיַכּסּו ֵא ת ֶע ְר ַות ֲא ִב יֶה ם‬,‫ֲא ֹחַר ִּנית‬ of their father; and their faces were
‫ ֹלא‬,‫ ְו ֶע ְר ַות ֲא ִב יֶה ם‬,‫ ֲא ֹחַר ִּנית‬,‫ּוְפ ֵניֶה ם‬ backward, and they saw not their father's
nakedness.
.‫ָר אּו‬
‫ ֵא ת‬,‫ ִמ ֵּיינֹו; ַוֵּיַד ע‬, ‫ַוִּייֶק ץ ֹנַח‬  ‫כד‬ 24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew
what his youngest son had done unto him.
.‫ָע ָׂש ה לֹו ְּב נֹו ַה ָּק ָט ן‬-‫ֲא ֶׁש ר‬
,‫ ֶע ֶב ד ֲעָב ִד ים‬ :‫ ָא רּור ְּכ ָנַע ן‬,‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר‬  ‫כה‬ 25 And he said: Cursed be Canaan; a servant
of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
.‫ִיְה ֶיה ְלֶא ָח יו‬
‫ ָּב רּוְך ְיהָוה ֱא ֹלֵה י ֵׁש ם; ִו יִה י‬,‫ַוֹּיאֶמ ר‬  ‫כו‬ 26 And he said: Blessed be the LORD, the
God of Shem; and let Canaan be their
.‫ ֶע ֶב ד ָלמֹו‬,‫ְכ ַנַע ן‬ servant.
‫ ְו ִיְׁש ֹּכן‬,‫ַיְפ ְּת ֱא ֹלִה ים ְלֶיֶפת‬  ‫כז‬ 27 God enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in
the tents of Shem; and let Canaan be their
.‫ ֶע ֶב ד ָלמֹו‬,‫ֵׁש ם; ִו יִה י ְכ ַנַע ן‬-‫ְּב ָא ֳה ֵלי‬ servant.
‫ ְׁש ֹלׁש ֵמ אֹות‬,‫ ַא ַח ר ַה ַּמ ּבּול‬, ‫ֹנַח‬-‫ַוְיִח י‬  ‫כח‬ 28 And Noah lived after the flood three
hundred and fifty years.
.‫ ַוֲח ִמ ִּׁש ים ָׁש ָנה‬,‫ָׁש ָנה‬
‫ ְּת ַׁש ע ֵמ אֹות‬, ‫ֹנַח‬-‫ְיֵמ י‬-‫ ָּכל‬,‫ַוִּיְה יּו‬  ‫כט‬ 29 And all the days of Noah were nine
hundred and fifty years; and he died. {P}
}‫ {פ‬ .‫ ַוֲח ִמ ִּׁש ים ָׁש ָנה; ַוָּיֹמת‬,‫ָׁש ָנה‬
