empowers people to improve their health status. They help people learn health-related practices that they may
adopt into their daily lives to achieve optimal health and self-care independence. Furthermore, the purpose of
staff and student education is to improve nurses' competence and confidence in their ability to provide care to
patients on their own. Educational activities are aimed at improving the quality of care provided by nurses.
Nurses play an important role in enhancing the nation's health, and they understand the value of continuing
education to keep their knowledge and abilities up to date. As a result, nurses in their role as educators benefit
from increased job satisfaction when they recognize that their teaching actions have the potential to form
therapeutic relationships with clients, increased patient-nurse autonomy, increased practice accountability, and

Why do you think there is a need to know the social, economic, and political trends affecting health care?

Social, economic, and political trends affecting the public’s health have led to increased attention in
healthcare especially to the role of the nurse as an educator and the importance of client and staff education.
For instance, healthcare providers are increasingly aware that client health literacy is a necessary skill if health
outcomes are to be improved nationwide. So, in this case, nurses must attend to their clients' educational needs
to ensure that they have a thorough understanding of the knowledge essential for self-care independence to
promote, maintain, and restore their health. Another example is the increasing complexity of care and
treatment in the home and community-based settings as technology advances. More rapid hospital discharges
and more procedures are done on an outpatient basis are forcing patients to be more self-reliant in managing
their health. So, in that case, patient education is essential to help patients follow through on self-management
activities on their own. Moreover, it is important to know the social, economic, and political trends affecting
health care so that people will be aware of what’s happening within the healthcare system most especially, their
health. To conclude, nurses are in an essential position to provide health education. They are the healthcare
providers who have the most frequent interaction with clients, are frequently the most readily available source
of information for consumers, and are the most highly trusted of all health professionals.
