Discuss the characteristics of precast system are most suitable to use in Malaysia construction
industry. Why?
Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concreate in a reusable mould or form
which is then cured in a controlled environment transported to the construction site and lifted and set
into place. The system is designed, manufactured and tested under an experienced management. This
able to get a better quality of the product and less volume of building materials. It also saves time as
the entire concrete blocks are cured uniformly. It is also suitable for Malaysia construction due to
Malaysia’s weather. During rainy days, production is not hampered with weather days as it is made at
the factory before transporting it to the site. This also can reduce the foreign worker, it will be less
cost by using this system and reduce the completion time of construction.
The system also increased environmental and construction site cleanliness. It has better quality
control. It makes the surrounding more organized and enhance a safe construction site. Despite its
easier method of construction compared to a conventional method. It also enhance the design to
achieve aesthetical result. The flexibility of the system it can be designed and manufactured at the
same location which is easier and time saving.
